1. work - Tull is one of my favorite work out play lists. I fear Aqualung and now it has a nice fresh cover. Also there are songs I don't know so I get something new. And how long is this album. I see a good miles of easy fast paced riding. If you love a song or artist you should enjoy their covers. This thing sounds cool.

2. Brilliant - I am really enjoying this creation of Ian Anderson's. Every time I listen to it I become very cheerful and happy. I've been listening to Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson since I was years old and I am now . I lost track of him for a time but found this when I did an ITunes search and I found it refreshing and thought it a brilliant idea to add an orchestra. It can't be easy staying a successful musician for years and this just shows me he can think outside the box and do things that continue to make his fans happy and him successful. I love it!!!

3. great performance - I saw Ian perform Orchestral Tull in Burlington,VT It was thrilling to sit there right below the stage and see him come dancing out with his flute. No this is not Aqulung or Thick as a Brick, but it shows what a master musician he is even if his voice is not what it used to be. In Orchestral Tull, Ian is re defining these great songs. A true artist finds new ways to express himself. I love classic Jethro Tull, but I'm glad that this is not a parrotting of things past. These are great songs defined in a fresh way.

4. Revisit, rehash, find Anderson's son a job - In the late s, Ian Anderson began fiddling with some older Tull songs for his live shows. Some of the results were sublime, like Living in the Past and Serenade to a Cuckoo. But too much of a good thing can make you lazy. Instead of writing new material, Ian apparently has now dedicated himself solely to rearrangements of his former glories. On this album, he's rehashing the rehashes, and he's doing it with an orchestra (plus his son James on drums). Problem is, a lot of the songs on this album are limpwristed versions of the original. Anderson didn't take many risks and the orchestra frequently goes to waste. The noteable exception here is a one-of-a-kind rearrangement of Aqualung. I'd recommend downloading that track only. Then, pray that Anderson comes out with some new music before he hangs up his codpiece for good.

5. Such a shame that Ian's voice has disintegrated - Ian Anderson used to be one of my favorite vocalists, but in this album he fights for every note like a recovering asthmatic. I have no idea how he lost his formerly amazing voice that was so powerful and dramatic, but listening to his wheezing on this album is personally embarrassing and leaves me wondering why he still tries to sing. He hasn't lost a thing in his playing but to hear Ian at his best vocally, listen to "Songs from the Wood", "Stand Up", "Thick as a Brick", "Storm Watch", "Passion Play" and others from these eras.

6. Ian Anderson steals Tull, plays Bach and Christmas Carols - Now are you happy? Itunes did not lie and one quick look see and listen would tell you it is Ian Anderson going solo with a lot of backup. It must be the young blood complaining as any seasoned Tull fan is too old and tired to argue with Itunes. Welcome. It is really cool you like my generations music. Don't be embarassed. I loved Frank!!!!

7. RESPECT FOR THE MASTER... IAN - Here is rock legend that evolves into a true ICON. A great example of rock and classical mix. If you are stuck in the 's.. then listen to his older albums and still enjoy the untochable talent, but if you are open minded and musicly mature enough listen to what IAN can do... Great new tracks and fantastic old calassics with style. Now... this is TIMELESS.

8. Funny, The title DON'T say it IS JT!! Offset - So why don't you quit giving it one stars and stop yer crying. You can always get JT from the web at other places. If Apple doesn't want the bucks tough. BTW, there are turntables out there with USB hookups if you want to convert your old tunes. You want the group, fine. Knock Apple, not the artist.

9. Ian Anderson plays Orchestral Jethro Tull - The key here is in the title - "plays Orchestral Jethro Tull". Ian Anderson is Jethro Tull, as founder, band leader, song writer, composer, etc. He has tried something different with "his" songs and it is not like the Jethro Tull who started in but still worth listening to if you are a fan. I agree it is like listening to Songs From The Woods, Heavy Horses, and several others. Going on years of making music I am just glad that Ian is still around and entertaining us with his flute! Thanks Ian for all the hard work.

10. Not Tull, but worth a listen anyway - I'm giving this stars mainly to offset the one-star "protest reviews". I actually give it . No, it's not the real JT, but it IS Ian Anderson playing newer arrangements of some old faves with some talented musicians including an orchestra. The version of Aqualung alone is worth the price of the DVD (upon which I base this review) If you are a Tull fan or even if you're not, this is some good music from one of the 's icons still doing his thing and doing it quite well (he turns this year). P.S. Yes, it would be nice to see Tull music on i-tunes, I hear it is in the works...

11. Too Old...To Rock and Roll? - Always have and will remain a fan of Ian Anderson but let's not kid each other...the real meat was with Jethro Tull. Watched a program on INHD from The Isle of Wight featuring a 's version of the band. Occasionally sloppy but raw with energy when Ian and the boys cooked so that's what I want to see on iTunes. "Nothing is Easy" closed the show...wow! Give me Tull! sez

1. The Most "Marine" sound yet. - I own all the itunes collections by the marine corps bands and this one has the largest and most powerful sound I've heard thus far. It feels very movie like, almost like the ideal marine sound. Very up front and in your face. I especially enjoyed the slow redition of the marine corps theme. Very moving. In responce to the previous reviewer, most of the money you are paying is going to fund the marine organizations, the scholarships, the band itself, which has numerous expenses that are paid for in this way so they are not laid upon the taxpayer. Also, many other charities are paid for through these artists work. Just because a piece of music is in the public domain does not mean the recording of the marine corps band playing is. It is the ownership of the United States Marine Corps and possibly their prospective players. The col.'s music may in fact belong to the corps. I'm not sure on the legal presence on that specific issue. However, the idea is that the costs goes to pay for itunes publication and for the royalties the band uses to provide great music, and to the wonderful charities the band provides to. Semper Fidelis.

1. Background crackling noise - Nice music but many of the songs have a crackling noise in the background. I was about to buy the album but decided not to because of the noise. I am surprised that whoever uploaded the album did not take the trouble to check the quality. It is highly unlikely the CD has the same problem. It must have been introduced in the conversion.

1. I agree with rowdyric... about dang time! - I am so happy I came across this album. I'd been searching for it for years and years, mainly because of one song - The Hill Country Theme. I finally gave up. Two years later, I figured I'd give it one last try and voilà, there it was! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

2. It's about dang time! - I just can't believe it has taken so long to re-release this incredible album. The Hill Country Theme alone is just an amazing song in itself. The entire album will really take you back. There is not a bad arrangement on this album.
Have hunted for years for a good clear copy of this.

1. Terrible, Wrong Movement - Do NOT buy this! The recording quality of the first movement is horrible. It sounds tinny and has weird modulations. You can barely hear in some places, even with the volume turned all the way up. The second movement is from a completely different piece. It's from Beethoven's th Symphony, third movement.

1. Quality is terrible - While I occasionally enjoy listening to pre-electric microphone works, I prefer it when the quality isn't completely lost. There is no way that some of these tracks were recorded in ; in fact, I would dare to say they were probably recorded in . Such information should be loudly and explicitly stated, as well as the fact that there was no remastery or attempt to clean up the tracks. I'm so sorry I didn't look at the one review that was already here. I might not have wasted my money.

1. Copland, Françaix, Nielsen: Concertos pour clarinette and orchestre - As a professional clarinetist, I must say, this beautiful album keeps one humble! The Françaix is a work of extreme difficulty, but not only does Cuper play it at the proper tempos (!), he reveals what delightful music this is! A must-hear for every clarinetist, and for anyone interested in the music of Françaix! Great job on the Copland and Nielsen as well!
