1. Pertinent - I stumbled upon this album while reading a devotional in the YouVersion app. I couldn't believe how relevant the message is here for today. I just can’t stop listening to it. As a result, I purchased the whole album which is something I haven’t done in years. Keep up the good fight! God wins!

2. Much needed! - Thank you for this raw and heartfelt album! So many people are struggling and it’s so good to be honest and work through it with God’s help. He is so merciful and understands our “humanness.” I feel God loves it when we lay it all before Him! Thank you for this incredible album and for using your gifts to help others.

3. Different - Much different from his previous amazing worship album. I was a little disappointed in the change of direction. Having said that there is a few songs that are amazing and worshipful that makes it worth getting. So Close, is my favorite. Don’t you Give up on Me, is my second best and third would be, Fear is not my future featuring Chandler Moore from Maverick City. You should at least by those songs individually. Please more worship songs Brandon.

5. A right on time Album - Help! Album Is not only a unique twisting sound, but it slithers into your spirit and causes you to look deep within yourself, and simply worship God. This album is a right on time album. It speaks to those who are or were struggling with mental health problems. It rocked me to the core…by far my favorites are “Pharaoh” and “Don’t You Give Up On Me”. This is a must listen to album for the believer and unbeliever alike. It’s just a raw, transparent album that is undeniably a testament of personal struggle and breakthrough. Keep pressing and stretching yourself Brandon, your music is saving lives. - Moving Mountains Changing Lives Osbert Maldonado

6. Truly Life-Giving - An artist so genuinely called by the Lord, a humble, generous soul…profoundly gifted in his music and authentic in his faith. Brandon fills a space that is incredibly rare. Whether it’s through his song lyrics, performances, videos. His work is captivating. He delivers the message of Hope with honesty and passion. 7. This album is everything I didn’t know I needed - I struggle with anxiety and depression and this album has give me songs that take me to a place away from that. They pull me into the presence of God. I am so thankful to God for using Brandon Lake to make this album thah so many people need. I love that every song has a totally different sound. My favorites are don’t give up on me, fear is on my future, pharaoh and meant for good.

8. JUST GET IT ALREADY!!! - Brandon Lake is an amazingly gifted artist and songwriter!! This album is raw emotion married with TRUTH. He busts completely out of the box with this one! I love the honesty he brings to the thoughts that swirl in all of our heads at times and speaks the peace of Jesus over them. “Help!” And “Save Me” are heartfelt gut cries for a breakthrough. “Always Holding On” and “Pharaoh” make me want to run and refuel me for the fight. “Don’t You Give Up on Me” and “Fear Is Not My Future” remind me that God is FOR ME and WITH ME through it all and give me strength to keep going. Haven’t stopped listening since it came out weeks ago!! JUST GET IT!!

1. Better but not reaching their potential. - This album is a little better than past albums. But I haven't been much of a fan since they started blending in with all the other mainstream CCM artists. These guys became great because they were the best christian coffee shop band in the world. Their unique blends of acoustic & organic sounds were addicting! They've fused a few songs with that originial raw sound here and there, but it would be nice to hear all their songs played like that again. Acoustic, raw, & original. I wish they'd make an album that was entirely that! I'd love them again if they're music was more of what it was. :)

2. Why so much controversy? - It's a far cry from their debut album which had Flood and Lovesong for A Savior, this is a very good album as it has bits and pieces of their albums through the years. I would have preferred that JoC didn't have so many guest artists on this offering, because that is where I think a lot of the opinions that they're too much like all other Contemporary Christian music these days. For instance We Will Follow sounds so much like Hillsong United! To say this is the worst album you haven't listened to If I Left the Zoo. Is it as good as some of their previous offerings? I would say no, as I think that there are a few I like better, Jars of Clay, Much Afraid, Who We are Instead, The Eleventh Hour and the Long Fall Back to Earth. I still really like this album though.

3. Comforting,a true shelter:-) - Yesterday in Bloomington Normal,Illinois Jars Of Clay came to perform at a Corn-Belters game. When I heard them sing, all the pain vanished from me. All the worries about family and school dashed out of my head. What I realized then was that Jars Of Clay impacts me. Their songs make me feel loved, and it leaves a feeling of faith in me. This album is really phenomenal, and when i heard them perform yesterday, my mouth hung open in awe. I realize i really just needed to hear their voice, and soon enough, i felt happy. I definetelly wont miss another chance to hear them in concert again!!

4. I'm with disappointing - No offense to the band (I know that they just had a flood wreck their studio) but I still have come to expect a lot more from them. Some of the songs could be good worship music, but I still think they could have done a better job like their earlier albums. My favorite one that they have done so far, by the way, is Much Afraid. That is an awesome album!!! They need to do more like that one.
2011-04-28
5. Disappointing - I used to look forward to a new J of C album but they seem to "evolved" and I don't like where they've gone. Their sound is forgettable, redundant, and gets lost with all the other middle-stream groups. Stick to their early work and enjoy the message and spirit in their music and words.
2011-04-24
6. Jars of Clay changes. - No this isn't regular Jars of Clay. But what is? Jars of Clay changes with every album and I've come to love just about all they've put out. This isn't your typical "worship" album like other reviewers are writing. This album is centered on a concept that many Christians seem to lose sight of, that God lives in all of us. We need each other... This album hits perfectly with today's struggles. The music seems a little simpler than the last album, but still great... Please stop reviewing this album on how much "new" Jars of Clay has changed from "old" Jars of Clay... Jars of Clay are not yours to own. Instead, judge it on its musical depth and Jars' efforts. I'm giving it stars because I think it deserves it... And also to help even out all you unfair critics... You people are encouraging bands to stay the same... Bands need to evolve. Jars of Clay is a truly creative band.

7. meh. - Jars of Clay, what happened? The reasoned I loved this band in the past was because it wasn't your same old, same old like other christian bands. This new album sounds like everything else you hear on the radio. No greater love is the only song that I feel is somewhat close to what they used to do. Oh well, I hope they go back to their roots soon.
2011-03-27
8. Truly amazing. - Jars of clay will always be the best. They just have really good music and lead me closer to the lord all the time I am so thankful that they are able to make music still. Anybody who has a chance to go watch them in concert GO! They are great! Just went to the rock and worship show and they has the greatest concert.. They sound amazing live and they are truly inspiring people.

9. Right On - I love the theme of this album. It's exactly what the Holy Spirit is saying to us right now. It's so exciting when other people bring words that you've been hearing from the Lord. I love the idea of recruiting all your friends and fellow artists to give input as a joint effort, just for this one cd, I think it's the coolest thing and especially fitting for the theme. Typical of JOC, the lyrics are creative and very well-done with music to perfectly match. I love it. It's more than just a typical CCM "we need to do this kind of thing cuz we're Christians and come together and be great" message. It's from the heart and actually means something. Highlights: Eyes Wide Open, title track, Mac Powell and David Crowder. (not a big fan of David Crowder by himself, but I just love him with Dan Hasseltine)
Definitely worth your time.

10. Good directions - This album is for Christians by Christians and is an encouraging mix of songs centered around the idea of community. The sound is a little different than their last album and the album as a whole sounds more indie. I love the message but it's not meant to be interpreted eighty different ways. This album is not about outreach, it's about Christian worship.
2011-01-30
11. A Little Too Preachy - I have liked Jars Of Clay from the beginning. They had a unique sound, and lyrics that were layered, and could be pondered for a while, and interpreted in different ways: particularly refreshing among Christian Music, which often seems so one-note, over-simplified and even shallow. In my own life, education and exposure to different viewpoints have steered me away from "Christian Music." And with their albums "Good Monsters" and "The Long Fall Back To Earth" I really felt that the band was growing in the same direction as myself. Those were full of songs that seemed consistent with the band's faith, without inserting "God" into every other sentence. They were songs with a broader relevance. By comparison, this album seems less about loving, feeling, and understanding people, and more about tapping the church market. There must be a lot of pressure to go that direction though. I notice the most highly rated songs on here are the ones that sound the most churchy and banal. I'm a little sad.

12. Never seize to amaze me - Jars of Clay are like part of my family. We fiend for their albums and when we get them they get played. Even my little year old said to me today after buying their CD, "I love Jars of Clay". I can rely on a unique but well put sound and lyrics every time I purchase one of their CDs. Thank You Jars for another hit!! Always wondered if you would pull it off after your first one but you have never disappointed. I actually have you guys among hundreds of CDs in a CD album but have a couple saved pages just for your upcoming CDs knowing you wont disappoint. Title song has a great hook and Eyes Wide Open has an amazing spanish guitar in it but I would be lying if I said I didn't like them all. Awesome.

13. Much better than 'Long Fall' - This album is a definite grower. I dismissed it at first and thought this would be the first Jars album I would not buy. After giving it a few more listens on myspace it really is a well done album - much different than their last album 'Long Fall Back To Earth' - still an album I want to love but I just don't quite get that one yet. I have to disagree with other reviewers that say this new release is typical CCM stuff you can hear on any christian station. First of all, Jars could never do TYPICAL CCM stuff - they are way too good for that. Secondly, I'd say give this album a few more spins - you're not quite getting it yet.
2010-11-20
14. Excellent - Jars of Clay are extremely talented musicians. In my opinion they are the most musically talented band in the Christian music genre today. To me, this is their best album to date. Their lyrics are not typically as direct as some other Christian bands (like Third Day for example); however, their creativity and musical diversity are brilliant. Excellent album.
2010-11-06
15. Bring It Back... - Jars of Clay, in recent years, have slowly been trying to update their style to match the times. The album before last shows a lot of techno roots, which, when released, is what seemed to be "in." What they are doing makes sense, because they most likely believe their old musical sound is slowly becoming dated. However, what I--and am sure a good ammount of people--want them to realize is that THEIR MUSIC IS TIMELESS! My iTunes says I have listened to Love Song for a Savior times, and it still doesn't get old. And to this day every time I listen to Oh My God I get chills in the build at the end. Compared to their last album, "The Shelter" is a very solid track. Most songs I enjoy listening to, and some of the songs have powerful lyrics. However, I will most likely play it for a month or so, and then become tired of it. To me, Jars of Clay was my childhood, and my early adult life. I've been to concerts of theirs, and have most likely every word to every song memorized. I don't want their strive for modern sounds take away from what made them so great. Bring back the organs, the acoustic guitars, and the lyrics that inspired many (including myself). Don't settle for good, but strive for timeless.

16. A triumphant success! - This album, from the first track to the last, is nothing short of stunning. Indeed, this is a worship album--these songs lift up the praise!! And why shouldn't they? That is the purpose of the genre, is it not? It certainly should be; if you're not desirous of worship in your Christian album purchases, to put it plainly you're listening to the music for entirely the wrong reasons. Yes, this is a return to a more worshipful sound from Jars of Clay. It is very, very timely, and overwhelmingly successful in its aim. Bravo, and enjoy!

17. I was worried at first but not anymore :D - When I heard that this album was going to be a worship album, I was afraid like many others that this album was going to be stereotypical christian and that everything that was said in "Good Monsters" was going to be thrown away. Now I see that evem though Jars has said some things that have been said before in this album, as always they manage to say it in a new way. The depth and thought put into this semi-worship album again reminded me of what sets this amazing band ten steps ahead of the rest of Christian music. Even the guest artists were well added. It wasn't like: this is guest artist with Jars of Clay playing in the background like most compilation albums. I'm very happy with this album but would also like to see more albums like "Good Monsters" and "Who We Are Instead" in the future.
2010-10-09
18. There Is Hope... - I believe that this album will probably be more successful than the last two. As a musician myself, I have always been able to identify with and appreciate how Jars possesses such a rare ability to expose themselves completely. I think that Dan Hasletine is one of the greatest artists and writers of our time. Year after year, they managed to go against the pop mold of contemporary Christian music, and give us something more. The last two albums seemed to reflect the pressure that they might have been feeling to surrender to it in order to get sales up. I have only listened to the previews of this album ,and am about to download it, but from what I've heard, it reminds me of some of the older albums. Maybe they had a reality check.

19. A Solid Effort: - To all those giving this or less stars as it's too far into the CCM crowd, I thought it would be fair to point out the following: ) Jars of Clay invited people like Thad Cockrell, Derek Webb, Leigh Nash and others to participate on the album. Not your standard CCM artists. Sure, Mac Powell an Amy Grant also make an appearance, too, which is unfortunate. ) You don't find typical CCM musical chord structures interwoven throughout the album. While some tracks are easy to play, this isn't the typical G/C/Em/D chord progression. JOC includes harmonies with CMb chords. Most CCM artists don't even know how to play it, let alone include harmonies under it. (This happened on TLFBTE as well when JOC had two instruments playing different chords at the same time to make a great musical chord that couldn't be made on just one guitar. Again, not something you find in the typical CCM genre.) At best, it's a great JOC album. At worst, adding some indie artists in there while still collaborating with mainstream CCM artists shows that JOC is at least willing to try to bridge the gap between the indie/mainstream crowds. That deserves some kind of credibility. Overall, the album sounds simple, but provides an all around elegant sound and has enough flavor of its own to merit stars.

20. A FULL FIVE STARS! - This is a very very very very good album. A worthy follow up to the excellent previous album "Long Fall"....the maturity and honesty of the lyrics along with the immense musical talent puts JOC in a class above most others. I've really enjoyed it and in many ways, have been positively affected by this album. Its a very well crafted album with a very focused and important theme. Each track progresses with increasing intensity in its message, drawing you in and painting a very powerful and encouraging picture. By the end of it, you cannot but feel moved by it. "Eyes Wide Open"; "No Greater Love"; "Run in the Night"; "Shelter" and "Out of My Hands" are masterful compositions. Proud also that the boys continue to speak boldly about their faith. Very few bands have lasted as long as JOC have - they just seem to get better and better. This album will win many awards. A full FIVE STARS!

21. Jars - I have every Jars CD since the start. Too bad this sounds like everything else on the CCM market, especially with the added guests. I am all for trying new things, but the new things here don't sound new. Not entirely a bad CD. it has a great message and I pray it ministers to many people, just disappointed with the CD from a musical standpoint. I loved Monsters and Long Fall, but this falls short for me.
2010-10-08
22. I thought I was buying Jars? Looking forward to their next release... - I really have been an avid fan of JOC even through their transitions and my favorite albums are much afraid, th, and Long Fall...This album was not them. They were there in the mix and album cover, but it lacked their special touch, moving perspectives, and multiple hook lines that come from different instrumental sources. Seemed a bit sappy and the writing didn't have that poetic depth they work so hard at. I liken the album to a compilation disk of artists like Compassion Art. Subjectively, I really enjoyed the freshness Long Fall had: open spaces, Lutito's drumming, and not that typical saturated CCM. If you love Jars, buy it and help them rebuild their flooded nashville studio. Who knows, but that could very well be the reason why this album is out of their element.
2010-10-07
23. Maturing Music - We as Christians are suppose to Mature in the Word and Music is one of the ways that we get the word. The Artists that are out there working have I believe been led by God the mature also in their music that they are doing. The most that they can do is to obey as they have learned that God is why they are there in the first place. When they started years ago, JOfC gave all of us the music we needed at that time in our lives, now they have matured into something that we now need. Heart felt, meaningful, In our quiet space worship of our God and savior. RIGHT??

24. ok lyrically, pretty empty musically - The past two albums (The Long Fall and now The Shelter) feel like a real departure from Jars of Clay's formerly wonderful and artistic music. They feel like a collection of songs rather than complete albums that tell a full story. Musically they feature Dan's voice on top of a lot of musical sounds, but without the same musical complexity or driving melodies that characterize their earlier work. The lyrics are still great at times, but musically it just feels less full, less interesting, and less inspiring. It's a little sad given how great I felt the first five or six albums were to see the band settling into a groove of shallow Christian pop, but that's just how it feels. It's like jars of clay without the soul, without any passion, without any real substance. That this album features so many much less talented, artistic or interesting artists (I'm looking at you, Mac Powell, David Crowder, and yes, Amy Grant) is telling. It's like a "who's who" of people who know how to sell soulless worship music. Unfortunately this album implies that Jars of Clay has completely devolved into passionless pop-worship. It's sad. I hope they'll get back to crafting full albums with distinct, interesting and consistent sound (even if that sound varies wildly from album to album) again.

25. Jars of Clay is Back!! - Funny how perceptions and musical tastes differ. Some are complaining that this is a departure from their 'original' sound. In my opinion, Good Monsters and The Long Fall Back to Earth were a departure from their classic sound. The Shelter brings Jars of Clay back to their roots as their best album in years! As for the comments bashing 'Christian Music', there is plenty of great Christian music out there... just need to turn off your radio to find it.

1. Boring as Sin - For a group of people as obsessed with the soul as Christians, it's weird that so many are okay with listening to music that is so soulless. As a Christian myself, i think people sould demand better of the artist in this genre especially when artist like Kendrick Lamar, Lauren Hill and Depeche Mode have used faith based themes in their music x better than TobyMac, Sidewalk Prophets or Phillips Craig and Dean have ever done

2. My favorite newsboys album - This takes me back to when I was younger. My favorites are I fought the la, new recording breakfast, from take me to your leader million pieces, from thrive shine, from going public/shine… The hits something beautiful, from go belly of the whale, from Jonah a VeggieTales movie he rains, from adoration the worship album wherever we go, from go stay strong, new recording entertaining Angels, from step up to the microphone reality, from take me to your leader you are my king amazing love, from adoration the worship album Joy, from shine… The hits Spirit thing, from going public it is you, from Thrive and i’m not ashamed, from not ashamed. This is my favorite newsboys album.

3. Good Ol' Classics! - Ah, the classics. I've been a Newsboys fan for as long as I can remember. As someone who grew up listening to "Shine", "Breakfast", and Entertaining Angels", I can only sit back and smile as I sing along to the classic, humorous lyrics sung by Peter Furler. ("Hmm, I wonder what rhymes with comet???") You just can't beat Peter Furler (and you certainly can't beat his awesome Aussie accent!) "Go", "Take Me to Your Leader", and "Secret Kingdom" are among my top faves, though I could certainly list many, many more!

1. This is great! - Dont get me wrong, Matty has so much talent! And he puts it to good use, but also he capitalizes his talent by the way he can scream! Memphis May Fire is my favorite band! Matty should focus on them more then his solos, i love that he is reaching more groups of people with his diversity of songs!

2. Beyond Amazing - I for one actually bought the album at the time of this review. This album really shows sides of Matty that were unseen by everyone. It's truly worth buying and supporting. I can connect to about every song on the album. Matty is so close to his fans, and cares about them all. He actually retweeted a picture of me with his new album today. Its so cool how a person like that you look up to actually cares about us. Truly is a great guy and deserves everything thats going for him and more.

3. Matty, you have earned me undying respect. - The fact that you are speaking out for the gospel so passionately in a genre and record label that is soooo secular is amazing to me!!! You are a huge influence on people and now they are going to see your heart for God fully shine through!! I am soo soooo happy with this record!! Even though im much more of a metalhead than i am a christian pop fan, i am buying this album to strictly support Mattys ministry to speak out the gospel truth to people who listen to his music!! But I will say there are a couple standout songs on this album that im totally in love with! Like By My Side, My Dear, Back To Square One, More of You, Speak To Me, and Glory!!! Such amazing lyrics Matty!! Keep up the good work!
2014-09-24
4. Awe-struck - I decided to wait to review this, so I've listened to the whole album. I was awe struck. It was amazing, I was excited for this album back when "My Dear" was released but songs like "Glory" and "Step by Step" make this album even better (those were not released early to build hype) I would advise any Christian or any fan of rock to get this album.
2014-09-24
5. Rise Records drops the ball. - Matty Mullins has such amazing talent. He constantly seems to be working on his voice. Lyrically, this album contains so much passion. I can feel the love of Jesus in Matty's voice and lyrics, especially in the song Glory, however, instrumentally, this album falls short.
I am grateful to be able to hear Matty share his love for The Lord, however Rise Record's heartless, hollow instrumentals are too overly produced and mechanical. And this being a worship album I feel was the wrong approach.
Well done Matty, however, I would recommend hiring musicians with passion for your next release.
2014-09-23
6. Absolutely Amazing. - Marty Mullins has come so far. I'm so happy for him that rise is also supporting him in making his own music. The song speak to me is such a powerful song that can reach out to everyone. I love how real Matty is in this album. I won't be surprised if this reaches number in christian rock albums!
2014-09-23
7. Legit - Matty Mullins is amazing, expressing his faith and love through music. Not only in the hardcore music scene with his band Memphis May Fire, but taking a step forward pursing a solo career on top of that. The Lord is definitely working in Matty’s life and will use this album for his good purpose! Good Stuff!
2014-09-19
8. Amazing - This album will be amazing. God is definitely moving in Matty's heart for sure, and I'm hoping that his fans will listen to this and see that Jesus is our Savior and that God loves us more than we could ever imagine, so much that He would take our place on the cross so that we could be free!!!
2014-09-16
9. Speechless!!! - Words can't describe how awesome Matty Mullins is. To think the only reason I gave MMF a chance several years ago was because we share the exact same name lol. You sir are the man and I honestly can say your words and lyrics inspire me to get closer to God every time I hear them. God bless you Matty and MMF!!!! Keep it up.

1. A sophomore slump for sure - I don’t understand why they had to create a “worship collection” for their second official compilation. Let’s compare this compilation with Shine...The Hits. Shine included songs from Not Ashamed, Going Public, Take Me To Your Leader, and Step Up To The Microphone. He Reigns took songs from Love Liberty Disco, Thrive, Adoration, and Devotion. That’s isn’t the bad part of He Reigns. Shine had seventeen songs; He Reigns only had eleven. Shine included three brand new songs; He Reigns didn’t have any new songs. Shine had a very balanced ratio of songs from the four albums represented in it, ---. As opposed to the ratio of He Reigns, which was ---. Shine really seemed to focus on the band’s greatest songs at the time of its release; whereas He Reigns looked like they just took five songs from Devotion and slapped six songs from its past three albums on it. All in all, considering the excellence of their first greatest hits compilation, seeing Sparrow records try to craft a new worship album from their latest four albums at the time was just a bad idea.

1. Impressive debut! - The Letter Black is a pretty good band. Personally, I thought REBUILD was better, but this ain't a bad album either! You can tell some of their influences include Evanescence and Paramore, but in the song "All I Want", I can detect a little bit of Pillar. Anyway, great debut! Worth a listen.

1. There she goes - While going to my girlfriends swim meet I heard sixpence none the richers there she goes on the radio and the song started to kick around in my head so when I got my iPod touch I decided to get it and pick up this song and I will always play it whether it's here or at work I will always have it on and going

2. The 's live in this song - Some songs define moments in our lives we will never forget. They're songs that years later can evoke the sights, sounds, and even smells of the time we first heard them. "Kiss Me," the red-hot, irresistible single from this self-titled release, will probably be one of those songs for the many who've by now experienced its charms. The culprits? A trio of youthful central Texans, by way of Nashville, called Sixpence None the Richer. On the rest of this Grammy-nominated gem, Sixpence serve an airy blend of Abra Moore-meets-Sundays acoustic pop.

1. Divine Comedy is a divine gift - Jackie Francois is worship incarnate. The Holy Spirit flows so freely through her and such beautiful music comes forth. As I listen to this latest CD, I feel as if I've been lifted into the Heavenly throne room, pulsating with the presence of Jesus. This is a wonderful piece of work, anointed and produced by the Holy Spirit through his faithful servant, JJF. Thank you, Lord, for the gift that she is to the body of Christ, as a musician, as a singer, as a songwriter, as a speaker, and as a yielded vessel who spreads Your love wherever she goes all over this earth.

2. Love it - When she came to my church to talk to the teens, I had tears in my eyes. I went home and bough her songs. Blessed to be able to say I get to see her at Steubenville catholic retreat this weekend. So excited for this album, a voice truly Blessed from God. And I'm a fourteen year old, who can say she is one of my favorite artists who's messages from Lord have truly spoken to me and many others.. Through her words, and music.

1. Best album of - I got into as we ascend late I was like well let me check this album out, I listened to it on Spotify and holy crap I was blown away there are excellent standouts like hatchet best song from the album, my ghost, when the gun goes, tell me, expandable, insulate, at my door (featuring brad Arnold of doors down) and we fight also wash away my least favorite song is end of me (featuring Zach from shinedown)

2. Highly recommended - This, in my opinion, is a well-balanced rock album. It’s got the dynamics of louds and softs; it’s lyrics deal with some of the darkness in the world but usually with a message of hope worked in. It has great chopping and melodic guitar lines and some shredding solos; the songs have melody but there is a fair share of that rock screaming many of us like. There are some keys or programming, but mostly guitars and drums. Each song is well-written and different from the others so that, when it’s over, you don’t feel like you just listened to the same thing over and over. And there’s really only one ballad, the last song, which has guest vocals from Brad Arnold of Doors Down. I highly recommend this debut album. As a nice plus, the band is very active on social media platforms so you can interact with them, too.

3. As We Ascend - You will be inspired by what these three guys have accomplished, heavy rock and lyrics that are truth seeking and honest for your soul which give a dose of heartfelt healing and encouraging messages that are God given. I'm proud to say I'm an label executive on this their first album! It's loaded with great rock, shredding, and honest sincerity along with special guests appearances from Shinedown and Three Doors Down members.

4. Incredible - Like hard rock? Then pick this record up. Deep messages, huge guitars, technical drums, it's all here. From two of the guys who brought you We As Human comes one of the best freshman records you will hear for a long time. Brad Arnold ( Doors Down) and Zach Myers (Shinedown) believed in these guys so much they put their talents to it as well. I know I sound like a salesman, but I'm only doing it for your benefit. It is money well spent! Cheers.

1. FF uuWhaaatt?!? - I know that soul glow activator left the band and now back up singer crouton is now lead singer.
But. Who writes your lyrics because they're boring. I mean even Hawk Nelsen's new band can do better than you... Now understanding that the album was OK but trashy I think your best albums is "Dance or die" and "Business up front party in the back" if you're going to go that route... And crouton speaking to you, you need to be more of a lead singer than a back up singer. Because the whole entire song all I'm hearing is back up and no lead. The only good song that I think I loved in this album was "Show Love " this is why am giving you only two stars and hopefully your next coming Album is way better than and this one...
Right now I'm on the cliffs of being a Family force fan or X-FF fan.

1. Rocking Hard for the Lord! - So, as a huge Whiteheart and Petra fan, this record is a dream come true. The rocking anthems of Petra and the thoughtful musicality of Whiteheart are both present, and yet this new band is even greater than the sum of its parts. After a few listens I was trying to decide which is my favorite song, which proved a challenging exercise! Is it the pop rock opener, "Rise Up", with a driving beat and the counterpoint of Jason Fowler's vocals? Is it the Petra Praise-ish "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" with that shredding guitar solo? Or could it be the power ballad "Lone Soldier" due to its uplifting message? Arghhhh!!! Too many great songs to choose from! I finally settled on "Brother to Brother," which is a perfect mix of rockin' guitar licks, lyrics that bring us together, and Schlitt's quality vocals. I was at their concert in South Bend, IN and they rocked the house! Whiteheart tunes, Petra tunes, from the new album, and Jason Fowler song. I don't see many tour dates on their webpage, so if you have the ability, get them to your town! My prayer is that The Union of Sinners and Saints continues to minister in the name of Jesus, and further albums are in our future.

2. Strong in more ways than one! - I experienced the debut performance of The Union of Sinners and Saints at the SumTur Amphitheater, and am amazed how strong and powerful the music is! It was more than 'just listening' to or a 'night out' at the concert. It is definitely a treat to hear more experienced musicians put some great work on the record for believers across the nation. Keep up the work!!

1. It’s good - It’s good but The Slam is weird now that’s why this is a four star rating. Anyways Burn For You is good and Catchafire but different I personally don’t tend to like remixes very well only if the original is slow but the remix version has a better tempo. I love ya TobyMac keep making great songs!!!!
2018-06-12
2. Decent - Let me review this album
Getaway Car. Better than Original
The Slam. Why is it slowed down?!
Diverse City. Good
Burn for You Shortwave Radio Mix. Ughh, this version took out my favorite part and this is the one you hear on the radio not the real version.
Hey Now. Sounds the same.
Phenemon. They couldn't use the one phenom remix?!!? Decent remix.
Gone. Again they slowed it down?!?!?!?
InTRUding Again. This isn't even a remix! It's just another Tru dog song!?!?
Catchafire. Great Remix.
ILLIMI. Sounds the same as the original.
Atmosphere. Is this Spanish? What the.
West Coast Kid. This isn't a remix! Another original song!?!
Burn For You Cat Paw Remix. This just sounds really weird. Skip It. Just get Catchafire Getaway Car and Diverse City Remixes the rest are okay or terrible.

1. Painful - For me, this album is like Les Mis. I read the hype & got excited. I wanted to love it, but when I finally heard it I merely liked it. I rationalized: “Well, DA’s average beats most bands' best." However, the painful truth is, the longer I sit with Dig Here the more average it sounds. The good news is that DA's front man, Terry Taylor, has proven himself to be a musical & lyrical genius. I am confident that this ho-hum album won’t be the band's last word.
2014-10-22
2. A Refreshing Return - I've always thought that DA is the kind of band that always keeps you coming back, whether you like all that they do or not. Even the quizzical Songs of the Heart really grows on you after a couple listens. With DHSA the band went with a more pop-friendly sound than with Buechner's Dream. "Forward in Reverse" sounded great in the teaser acoustic version the band sent out to supporters but I think the charm of the song was took on a dated feel with the swirling synth effects near the end. "Jesus Wept" and "Dig Here Said the Angel" are somewhat reminiscent of Fearful Symmetry and capture some common themes in DA's work, such as the hope of future joy as a solace in the face of present suffering. Some of the lyrical work suffers a little with "We'll All Know Soon Enough," but the vast majority of the songs sparkle with DA's trademark wit. Gems on this album include the fast-moving "Waking Up Under Water," "The Uses of Adversity," and "The Ruthless Hum of Dread"--each of which dwells on some aspect of the contrast between our hopes and our realities, steadily building up a somewhat dark, perhaps pessimistic mood. But unlike how they ended Songs of the Heart, DA doesn't leave us in the dark on this album. "The Sun Shines on Everyone," while rather simple lyrically, drives home the theme of reciprocal grace rather effectively. Once again DA has delivered some great music and highly ponderable lyrics, and the world is a better place for it.

3. A soundtrack for life on planet earth and beyond - THis album is a meaty meal of deep thoughts, a welcome relief after the cheery pablum that drizzles out of most "worship" radio stations these days, and it's about time. Too bad you won't hear it on the radio.
This album is not nearly as poppy and upbeat as their songs from my youth, then again , I"m older too. Having faced life, love, iminent death, dispapointment, but also the hope brought about by faith in Christ, I can really hear what Terry Taylor is expressing about life and the strength to carry on given by that faith. THe music is top notch, and while your first listen it might seem a little cold and dark, it rewards repaeated listenings, there's a lot going on there, as there usually is on every DA album.

4. DA is my all-time favorite band - Daniel Amos was the first "Christian bands" that I loved and could play for my friends. My first DA album was Alarma. Since then I have purchased all their CD's. It has been years since their last great album, and Dig Here Said The Angel is everything you could want from a DA album. Every DA album has been different, and takes some getting used to at first, and this album is no different. But that is a strength which makes DA albums never get old. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. Thank you DA for another great album. Here's to many more.
2013-11-12
5. Best Album Since “Motorcycle" - I love it when a band that’s been around for a while can still release a stand-out album. This is the most cohesive rock experience from DA since “Motorcycle,” an album that works as one piece of art - once you start it, it’s near impossible to skip tracks; you have to listen from start to finish. Honestly? If someone wanted to jump in to DA for the first time, I would point them here. It’s modern, accessible, filled with strong, inventive hooks (and Taylor’s typically brilliant lyrics) and totally indicative of what the band is capable of.
2013-11-11
6. One of their best! - Daniel Amos was one of the first Christian Rock bands I ever heard and Horrendous Disc and Alarma were two of my first records in the genre. Over the years DA has remained one of my favorite bands and I've seen them live countless times. So it was a no-brainer for me to participate in their kickstarter project that became "Dig Here Said the Angel." I didn't know what to expect, and, to be honest, I'm easy to please and have appreciated every release by the various incarnations of the SoCal band of brothers that make up the s, Lost Dogs, Swirling Eddies, Choir, and each of their solo projects. But I'm not always excited. DA's previous release from years agog "Mr Buechner's Dream," was good but never grew on me like previous albums. After this much time my expectations were not high but my anticipation was. I'm blown away... This is as good as anything they've released previously! Quirky hooks, ironic lyrics, catchy punk-pop melodies are all here without sounding dated. Who makes a record that is their best or equal to their best years into their career after they have grandchildren?? Daniel Amos, apparently.

7. Music for the "older crowd" - I am sure that in its day, this must have been a great LP. THe recodring quiality is that of a vinyl so it DOES bring back nostalgia but the era of this music is too dark and dreary for today's generation that looking for more than a "wrecking crew." This isdefinitely my parents type of hippy music.
2013-09-11
8. Classic DA!! - Terry we have all waited too long!! Thank you! Another album that is so imaginative and inventive and yet so classic in the long line of amazing DA records. Deep and dark and sprinkled with theology in ways just not encountered in most modern music. Please don't make us wait another decade.
2013-08-27
9. Beautiful and Dark - The music is big and beautiful. The production is thick, lots of sounds and instruments. The lyrics are dark. With few exceptions (if any), the songs here are about death and suffering. I’ll even say that lyrically this album is almost bleak. Love is a “wrecking crew” and “if you want to get to higher ground / you got to get there on your knees” and, as we all find out as we get older, the road to heaven passes through hell. These are songs to write/hear after you’ve put a few miles behind you. Maybe this is why Terry mentions his aging skin/flesh in four different songs. Look, things might be great one day but only in a song called “Now That I’ve Died.” And there’s a beautiful dream that ends with us “Waking Up under Water” (which reminded me of the closing lines of TS Eliot’s “Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”). This is not new territory for Daniel Amos, which is probably why I still love them. And all this suffering is met with grace and mercy. This is beautiful, thoughtful music for people who find as much meaning in Good Friday as they do in Easter.

1. Still Rockin - I have been listening to David and the Giants since . Great music great lyrics. Words to strengthen words to lift up Jesus Christ. The new album still rocks the name of Jesus and uplifts a broken spirit. Simply put, there are no better musicians and men of God than these guys. They know how to play real music not computerized junk. Thanks D&G.

2. THE BEATLES of Christian Rock return!! - yrs is a long time to wait for the original members of D&G to reunite, so when I heard they were doing the reunion concert in my hometown of Pearl, MS I cancelled everything & made plans to go. I was unaware that they were recording that night for a live album, but I'm very glad they recorded that show…… there is not a better live contemporary Christian show than David & the Giants • "Here's My Heart" sounds every bit as incredible as it did when it drew me to the group in the late s…… and there's no more powerful "live" song than "Noah", and the new studio tracks are typical D&G songs… but, that being said, typical D&G songs are nothing short of phenomenal. David Huff's voice is ANOINTED & extremely strong • Clayborn & Rayborn Huff are solid as ever & Keith Thibodeaux is back behind the kit providing all the "thunder" you'd expect from a guy that's been a professional drummer since the ripe old age of three • (Keith was "little Ricky" on the I LOVE LUCY SHOW before surrendering his life to Christ) • I downloaded this the day it came out AND got a hard copy as soon as I could get my paws on one • you should, too!

3. It’s great - I don’t go back to many of the artists of my youth, I do keep coming back to David & The Giants as well as David Huff’s solo albums. The production is great, the playing is top notch and the songs are full of thankfulness of what God has done. It is great to hear some of their very old songs that predate when I first listened to them (Riders and Superstar). I really wish there was a new version of “Almost Midnight”. I hope they keep Rockin’.

4. Welcomed Return... - Impact and Legacy are words that can describe D&TG!!! Their music has been part of my life as long as I can remember and now it is a part of my year old and year old boys' lives...They love every album I have (which is almost all of them), and always ask for more...this new recording of some classic tunes and a few new ones will surely be played and played and played!!! Thanks for the pre-order option and for the digital download.

5. The Best of D&G EVER! - So many years, so many songs, so many recording projects, so many miles traveled… God has brought them to this place, here and now. Simply put, D&G are at their best EVER! The quality is second to none. The anointing is evident and present. The gift lives on. Congratulations to David & the Giants for being a huge blessing to the world!

1. Very enjoyable actually - Usually with bands like Skillet, their early stuff, especially their very first album, are horrible and unformed, not having established their sound and coming off naturally as immature. Not with Skillet. Not only is their debut well-formed and quite strong, it is also a LOT more mature than their latter day work (everything after Comatose sans Dominion), which you would think would represent the height of their craft and musicianship and growth but in fact represents the complete opposite. They may have never repeated the grunge rock of this album again, but that only makes it more special. John Cooper and the two members that had been such at the time play very confidentially, and his voice sounded a lot younger and less raspy but was a lot more formed than other singers at the beginning. Plus, there are some very catchy songs here, which flourish in their grunge setting. I can’t really say which songs are the best, I pretty much like them all equally except maybe You Thought, which is still better than later songs like Feel Invincible and Hero. After the self titled they converted to industrial, which was sudden but worked beautifully. But the self title holds up as well as those regardless, and should be heard by those who think Skillet were always mindless fist-pump rock.

2. An odd one for sure - This record is not for everybody, but those who hate Skillet (especially the modern day stuff) should definitely listen to this to see that there’s more to Skillet than “Awake and Alive” and “Feel Invincible”. Best songs: “My Beautiful Robe”, “Paint Me”, and “I Can”

1. One of my albums from Skillet - Skillet is my favorite band of all time and when I found out they had a worship, I just knew I had to listen to it. Throughout the whole album I was thinking to myself that this is who Skillet really is. This is my favorite worship album and I like more than the live albums by Hillsong and all the other worship artists but I still love Hillsong. God is good and his name is holy. I would love to see another worship from Skillet in the future and I will forever be a panhead.

1. Radio is too chicken to play this one! - This album was not ‘made for radio’ — it’s a purebred rock and roll BANGER. You need a big stereo to fully appreciate what these boys have put together here. The lyrics are direct and too hot for religious radio—which is exactly what we need. The timing of this record’s release and the surprises with Kanye ain't coincidence: We’re hearing the approach of God-ordained revival.

1. More of the Skillet nobody knows - This album is more industrial rock as opposed to the debut’s more alternative sound, which means it has less in common with a record like Rise or Awake. “Dive Over In” thrives on a good groove and is by far the hardest song on the album, “Suspended in You” is deliriously infectious and recalls Love Liberty Disco-era Newsboys, “Locked in a Cage” manages to be pleasant as well as rockin’, “Take” repeats the infectiousness of “Suspended in You” only without the Newsboys similarity, and “More Faithful” and “Coming Down” will leave you wondering what went wrong with Skillet years later. Skillet fan or Skillet detractor, listen to this album!

1. Welcome to the SHOW! - You can HEAR passion and the influence of one Aaron Gillispie with these guys. Their music is hard, their vocals passionate and their message troubling, convicting, real and tough. Willet's drums hit you over the head like a hammer while the guitars cut through your speakers. Vocally and lyrically, passion and urgency is felt in every note and word. Enjoy these guys! Their words are true!

1. definately worth the WAIT . . he's better than ever - I found David Huff and DAVID AND THE GIANTS in when "HERE'S MY HEART" took off and crossed over into the pop/rock world . . . the message and the music is still just as powerful and relevent now as it was then and David Huff just doesn't slow down with age. As a matter of fact, he's still hitting notes at almost that I wished I could hit at . . . God really has used this man in a mighty way, and this record is worth every single penny . . .
