2. AMAZING! - If you're daring enough to venture into the diverse sounds of Brazilian music, let this be your starting point! If there is one thing that is absolutely remarkable about Maria Gadú, it's her voice. Soulful, yet soft and soothing, her vocals perfectly compliment her take on typical Brazilian sounds like samba, axé, bossa nova, etc., as she fuses them with a certain R&B and acoustic flare. To go out on a limb, she's reminiscent of a Brazilian Joss Stone. I enjoyed every minute of this album, and regardless of your understanding of Brazilian music or the Portuguese language, I'm certain you will get a ton of pleasure by just listening to this incredible new artist!

Great band and album! - Me and my friends use to say that Los Hermanos is like sushi: you might not enjoy it at first sight, but once you get the chance to taste each accord and lyrics you won't stop and probably be addicted to it. In fact, after going to one of their concerts for the first time I immediately joined the whole rest in that collective delirium and couldn't help myself from getting along with. Each song in this album is special, but if I had to mention two of them, I'd pick Conversa de Botas Batidas and Último Romance, astonishing beautiful, full of symbology and meaning, sheer poetry with a whole story behind each one.

1. Came for the Song, Bought the Whole Thing - It started with that hysterical Southern Comfort commercial and it stuck with Season Episode ("Million Bucks in a Bag")of Ballers. Looked it up on Tunefind and found out the song playing as Spencer walks into his old office carrying a bag of money is "Estrelar" by Marcos Valle. Came for the song, bought the whole thing. Great fun, dance, sing, have a blast even if you don't speak or understand a word of Portuguese. This is one you'll play year after year after year. Hey, I didn't speak German when I bought Falco but I learned. We're having so much fun with this music!!

1. Maria Rita. So worth the wait. - Her voice, music, and the ways she makes her songs sound different as if she pushes the envelope so effortlessly. I highly recommend this and other albums if you love jazz and are eager to hear something different. I do hope she tours the US and makes a stop in California. Gracias Maria. 1. I love it. - Look, Maria Rita's clarity, rhythm and energy and good enough for me. And the band is great. Who cares if it sounds a lot like the last album? Last I remember, the first cd left me ready for more (I would've bought this one if it came out a day after the first one). It's so refreshing to hear pop music with a brain, and I just have a thing for Portuguese - just love how it sounds. Buy this with the DVD/CD combo - where Maria Rita really shines is in live performance; her first DVD is testament to that. Can't get enough.

1. Review of Kaoma World Beat - This is very beautiful, swinging, sensuous music. One of my all time favorite albums. After years I guess most have forgotten about the lambada and Kaoma. But I return to listen to this & never get tired of it. I am writing about the first tracks. The others are disco style & thin. At least tunes are stars!

1. Outstanding artist ! - As brazilian I must say that Chico is one of our "treasures". He is one of the most intelligent and respectfull artist in our country and your music, books, theater stories are very important. You can easily find questions and critics about culture, politic and government history and behavior in Chico's creations and also in many tests for people who wants to join the University/College. He's best know in Brasil as the "only man who understands and translate the women soul", been sensitive and deeply in every single lyric or book he write, and due to that many Brasilian women consider him as the "perfect man" been wished and desired by women (and some men as well) from all ages. Everybody should listen and learn about Chico Buarque because he gives big lessons and reflections to the human being. Simply STARS !!!

1. Worthy - SILVA reminds me a LOT Washed Out's "Within Without". And actually, I think it beats it with a large advantage. The music is not only an invitation to a new sound experience, but also touches your soul lyrically (for those who understands portuguese, of course). Biggest thing in Brazil - Saw her play in Rio when everyone was just finding out about her and by the end of the year I heard hundreds of thousands of Brazilians singing along at a free show in copa. 1. Pinnacle of samba rock - I was turned on to this LP by In Sheep's Clothing (vinyl listening bar in LA). I was a big follower of other tropicalia artists like Os Mutantes and Tom Ze, but had never touched Jorge Ben's stuff. As the writeup from ISC HiFi website details, this is a happy and joyous record. It doesn't make you feel good so much as it will blot out any pain or sadness. Highly recommended.
