1. Smokin' Hot - Mix together Fela's drummer Tony Allen, whose own solo work is amazing, with ex-Cream drummer and full time curmudgeon Ginger Baker and Fela's outstanding early 's afro-groove and you've got an unstoppable juggernaut of rhythmic funk, African style. Fela Kuti and his band are fantastic in the studio, live they're just amazing. This is a good place to start if you're new to Fela's afrobeat music.

Fela Kuti by himself - soulful . . . Fela with The Africa ’ band - powerful . . . Fela Kuti, Ginger Baker AND The Africa ’ band - just fking amazing!

1. definately buy the real versions. - eh... this cd is ok, if you into unoriginality posing as something great. most of these songs are under minutes. the real songs are close to usually, and full of intricate rhythm structures. this tones it all down to a britney spears complexity and ruins great musi.

2. Positively addictive - Don't listen to Dr. One-star McPretentious. This is my introduction to Fela Kuti, and whether or not you think it does justice to his original intentions, it is undeniably a fiercely addictive collection of an inimitably perfect sound that combines a wide variety of jazz, funk, and African influence. Having given some of Fela's longer tracks cursory listens, I must also admit that I tend to find these shorter tracks much more accessible and friendly to the short attention span of my American ear.

3. I Keep This Album On Repeat! - I was familiar with some of Fela's work prior to purchasing this album, but I must say this particular mix gave me insight into this man's music I had yet to experience. This is a perfect blend of some of Fela's best work! Chief Xcel did an extra-ordinary job mixing and presenting an historical masterpiece to those of us who already know and love Fela Kuti's work and those who have yet to discover his genius. If you love great music, this is a must have!

4. The underground Spiritual Game - I don't think it's so bad. Sure this album does not fully exemplify the legnth and complexity of fela's music. But it was the first album I bought, I sort of consider it a surface crash course in fela's sound. Most people won't but an album with a fourty minute song on it, so try this then get some real fela music. It got me plenty addicted to Fela's sound.

5. Don't buy this - Don't buy this. All of the tracks are edited/shortened..... A LOT! Do yourself and all of your friends and family a favor and go buy the original albums with the songs in their full glory. iTunes has them ALL suprisingly. Only someone with no real concept of Fela's music would shorten his songs and re-release them. If Fela were alive, he would be furious.

6. Fela is...Nigerian Bob Marley, Mile Davis, and James Brown - Anyone who has an electic music collection such as I do, you need to get this cd or any other Fela cds that are offered through I-tunes. I must say I was surprise that I-tunes has a vast collection of Fela cds.I-tunes gets star points for that. I paid twice as much for my cds, but I don't regret the Fela cd I own because his music will take you on a musical odyssey .Check out his son Femi Kuti too. YOU WILL NOT REGRET PURCHASING THIS CD.

1. The Original - This album was my intro to Burna a few years ago. The whole album was on YouTube and as a Jamaican I found his sound quite intriguing. I would listen to the album over and over again, I just couldn’t stop. I was pleased when I saw him burst onto the American music scene after so many years. Kudos to hard-work, staying true and never giving up. Well done Burna.

1. Kind of generic but Chemistry was good - Her music is kind of like generic with the lyrics and tune and it doesn’t match her voice at all. She needs to find her own sound that matches her voice, like distinguish herself from other pop artists and Nigerian artists. And the sound just doesn’t match her voice at all. She has a remarkable amount of talent and a unique voice, she jist needs to find a sound that matches it

2. The modern Juju album we've been waiting for. - Simi delivers the best attempt at traditional Nigerian music I've heard. From the remix of Ebenezer Obey's "Aimasiko" to "O Wan'be", the influence of Juju music is clear and welcome. The entire album also sounds very organic, as if played in one live session, as opposed to the overproduced style favored by most Nigerian acts. "Joromi" is sure to be the standout song of the album, but the ballads "Gone for Good" and "Tiff" are the best examples of her great singing and even better writing. For me, the best album since Asa's debut.

1. great horns on this brain candy - Sadly people of the st century aren't intelligent enough to hear the call of true freedom or express it in music like Fela did. He was on the front lines fighting Al-CIAduh and its influence in its early stages. When they were still trying to gain a foothold in South America.

1. Grammy Worthy - There are musicians that make soundtracks for the weekend while others focus on sounds that track our lives from start til the end. The songwriting, production and mix & master on this album is Grammy worthy. I've been stuck on "Naked" for about a week before I played the rest of the album. All the best Brymo

2. Refined diamonds in its purest form - This album is pure diamonds. I'm in heaven listening to every single track. Brymo deserves more credit and appreciation. Nigerians scream that they want good music but guess what type of music gets the highest likes, air plays and video views? Smh. I appreciate you Brymo, thank you for opening up vessels I didn't know existed in me through this phenomenal piece of art.
But err, what does the album title mean lol.

3. How does he get better everytime!!?? - Brymo is without any doubt the best musician i've ever heard and thats across the globe...his use of proverbs to deliver life messages is just incomparable. The industry hasn't made him go mainstream he's stuck to his own style and for that alone he has earned all my respect. Klitoris is an instant classic and he's the ONLY artist that i would pay $ for tracks cause its just that good. Keep up the good work Dem Dey Go, Happy Memories and Naked are awesome!!!

2. Soulful, playful, beautiful - There should be more reviews for this wonderful band. I don't even know where to start. This album is simply amazing. This band is so so so talented. Lush, gorgeous voices over playful melodies and soulful, heartfelt tunes....ahhh...And can I say, just so originial! I love it when i listen to a relatively new band and every single track sounds wonderfully different and fresh, and yet every track is distinctively Sauti Sol. I don't know how to describe it, their signature is there. My favourite tracks are Coming Home, Mbinguni, Lady, Sol Generation and Nambee

1. Salif Keita: A genius in love with his art - Is it possible that an artist gets better with age? The answer is a resounding YES, if you are Salif Keita. Salif Keita is a master craftsman. He has nothing to prove so for the past few years with each album (Papa; Moffou; Talé;) and now Tonton there are innovations — more collaboration with artists from around the world; young producers who bring in new sounds; all that mixed with the traditional sounds of his native Mali, and the cultures that have influenced him. Angélique Kidjo and French Rapper MHD; The Lady Blacksmiths; or Reggae man Alpha Blondy are all great compliments to this Album making it “a must have.”

1. Home Run - Traffic, drought and Kardashians may dent the Los Angeles brand, but the city still charmed Habib Koité, the great Malian singer-songwriter and descendant of griots. "L.A." is his tribute song, favorably measuring Southern California’s sun, hills, even livestock, against what his own country offers. “Avoid comparing yourself to a race of heroes/Theirs is a special brew you should avoid drinking,” he sings, in Bambara, before switching to a chorus in English about consoling tequila. "L.A." is an outlier on Koité’s exquisite eighth album, the only song set outside Mali; what links it to the other tracks is the company of musician drinking buddies he kept in California. Social glue—of friends, couples, families, communities, nations—is his thread. On "Soô" (Home), Koité describes tranquil and turbulent interactions, singing in four of his country’s languages, using his acute melodic sense and trademark mix of African and Western instruments—notably a guitar tuned to produce the sound of the kamale ngoni his grandfather played—and a small society of talented bandmates. "Diarabi Niani" (The Pain of Love) captures a romantic conundrum: “We suffer from what we love,” he observes in Maninka, “I don’t want to live without you, but routine is treacherous.” "Khafole" (I Told You), sung in Khassonké, is the cry of a mother whose baby dies after a circumcision—“I said he wasn’t old enough…but [they] did not listen.” Other tracks focus on patriotism, arranged marriage and the social aspects of football. LA, London, Paris, all nice places to visit, but for Koité there’s no place like home.—worldlisteningpost.com

1. Intoxicating, Moving - This is REALLY good stuff! I stumbled across this album in a music library. It struck me so deeply that I spent the next several months searching for music similar to it. Couldn't really find much that compared but I'm really pleased that Itunes picked up their album. I'd HIGHLY recommend Insingizi. Buy it.

2. This music inspires me. - It's amazing that three men can make music like this with their voices. It's the most beautiful music I have ever heard. I'm a programmer who finds it hard to listen to music with lyrics while I'm working. This music is so beautiful (and I can't understand a word they're saying) it's perfect.
