1. Comment on Dementia topic - // podcast - I’m a long time listener & always learn something new from Science Friday. Just an awesome show. Just passing along a suggestion about how to care for someone with dementia, read the book, The Hour Day. This was suggested by a Hospice Worker. It is a reference guide to help caregivers & family members. Thank you!

2. Political views make me sad - I enjoy the show very much until we are diverted from science to a political view or “politically correct” topic. It is very hard to escape media slanted to one political view or another to manipulate real time ratings these days, and I hate to see an otherwise good science program slide down this slope as it does too often. It is compulsively “politically correct” and political. Outlier topics of marginal interest get big play here.
2022-11-27
3. No longer a science podcast - This program has devolved from a popular presentation of scientific topics to a political bullhorn. Its advocacy for green energy without also informing about its reliance on child labor in the Congo, slave labor in China, toxic waste products, etc. is a real disservice.
2022-11-12
4. Trustworthy science - In the mass of “science” podcast I know that NPR and sci-FRI are going to give me actual science. I look forward every week to the information in the news and how it matters. I enjoy the bite size fully packed I for that is presented in a way that is not a chore to hear. Thank you so much for the years of science news reporting.

5. Missing November episodes on Apple Podcasts - We look forward to being able to listen to Science Friday through Apple Podcasts on the day after broadcast. The intelligent and timely topics are always a highlight of our weekend, Since the episodes from November do not seem to be available on Apple Podcasts this Sunday, wondering if there is some change in the availability on Apple Podcasts? Thank You for any information on how to access these episodes.

6. Sci Fri has become a scientific narrative arm of the establishment - Science Friday has always leaned left, they are a part of NPR after all…but I think over the last few years sci fri can best be described as “A scientific narrative arm of the entrenched establishment.” The social justice propaganda woven into their science stories has clearly become their main mission, instead of the “pinkies out” sidebars that they were in the past. In this last episode they literally used the term “environmental racism” as if even the environment is now racist too. It’s unfortunate because sci fri was always an interesting and unique show, but alas it was not spared during “the long March through the institutions”

7. Used To Be About Science… - I’ve listened to the show for years. I was a donator for much of that time. But I’ve noticed in the past year or so that the show has been pushing whatever the current liberal agenda is at the moment. It’s become another political pushing show with the word “science” thrown in there. I just can’t support it anymore.
2022-08-20
8. Where’s the science? - So much science to discuss and the program inserts political issues and trans issues into every story. They even begin a story saying we don’t talk enough about women and women’s bodies- and then they bring trans issues up not once but four times! The program isn’t what it once was. Sadly nothing left of real science in this program. It’s all commercials and politics now.
2022-07-29
9. World Class Science Reporting - The US generally lags behind the rest of the world in popularizing science. Science Friday tries to keep the US in the game. I think it holds up very well against the BBC’s Science Hour and Australia’s The Science Show on RN. I’ve listened to this program for decades and I think it hits over . in presenting interesting, relevant content. It’s probably the best US source for understandable information on climate change, genetics and pollution. If you ever get a chance to see them do a program live, do it.
2022-07-22
10. Right Wing Agenda - I really love this show and have always listened to it and will always listen to it, because science is science, and everything is science so it is so extremely interesting. But I have noticed that so many reviews seem to be written by troll-bots and mention the same thing every single time. The Bot Farm should know that their fake reviews have a noticeable signature that screams FAKE. So keep on talking about science as there is no end to how interesting it is.
2022-07-08
11. The Future Will Hold Accountable - I remember when popular science started advertising E Cigs. I couldn’t believe tobacco was buying science publications to advertise to young people to use E Cigs. The last year has proven to Popular Science that e cigs were running rampant, causing abuse and posing many of the same risks tobacco always has. (Hint they don’t advertise them anymore) I’m a long time listener of the show but I couldn’t believe the latest show on marijuana. They described without any science a town as a “beacon” as if a religious hope could be found in spreading weed across the small towns of our country. Then they brought a rogue clinician on to tell us he’s prescribing weed for basically everything. Cancer - weed
Alzheimer’s - weed
Insomnia - weed The doctor offers anecdotal information at best and some basic science on weed. How about highlighting the good AND the limitations of weed from a peer reviewed study in Science and stop leaving clinicians with pretenses that the marijuana high is the holy grail medical science has spent years to find.
2022-06-06
12. Bar Graphs. - My question is where did you get your test subjects? Were they college students or the general population? If they were from the general population then % makes sense. There is a segment of the general population that is learning impaired so of course your study would reflect that population in your data. Not everyone can ever understand even the most straight forward concepts.
2022-04-04
13. Depends on “the science” you adhere to… - Sooooo… as most of you (critical, independent thinking) people know, even “science“ has been weaponized as of late and, as a long-time listener of this podcast, I can see the leanings of some of the guests, no matter the subject. I do not claim to be absent of all confirmation bias but I strive to be. This has given me some clarity of observation to see when there may be an agenda or at the very least a sympathy to one of which this podcast is not innocent of from what I have seen lately. So tread lightly with an open mind because EVERY SUBJECT has become political and therefore vulnerable to persuasion. Actual science requires questioning the “settled” science!
2021-11-06
14. Disappointed - New tech in batteries. The show lacked creativity and vision. Very little tech details. I was hoping for a discussion about graphene and even woven carbon nanotubes from a university in western Canada. The only mention about them was the difficulty in manufacturing. What is the difficulty? Should there be a Manhattan style government program developing graphene manufacturing? Are we still questioning the importance of global climate change? What is the purpose of government re climate change and moving away from burning fossil fuels? Shouldn’t the media ie sci fri, be an advocate of something? Even if it’s burning more fossil fuel, so we know where you are coming from?
2021-07-22
15. Science boring - A tedious boring and dumbed downed show tailored to what your grandad might have thought science was about. Very little hard science. Lately it’s nonstop COVID coverage every week and it deals with COVID policy not even much of the science. Listen to the bbc naked scientist or other bbs science shows. Science Friday is just awfuland a waste of time
2021-06-11
16. After years I am no longer a supporting member - Show marginalizes and diminishes views that it finds are outside NPRs core donation base. It almost feels like this shows nothing more than a mouthpiece for the national AD Council now. The way they parent non-scientific things like “ trust the science” should strike fear and every American who pays their taxes.
2021-04-23
17. Please take politics out of the show - I missed the days when the program offers all the exciting news in scientific development. But lately there are too many episodes about politics. It feels like we are in the US version of the Cultural Revolution, where there is nothing that hasn’t been politicized. Sad!

1. Universe Today - Frasiers podcasts are a fan favorite of mine and the work him and the team put into this is very appreciated. He has a way of presenting complex science topics in a very easily understanding way. Corporate sponsors should take note of how a podcast should be when analyzing his show. He's wit and intelligence make for a great program.

2. Has Taken Over StarTalk - Like I have seen with some people here, I have moved here from StarTalk which has been gradually becoming more comedic. They have started to run out of ideas and don’t know how to deal with it. So far, with this podcast, I have not seen any of that loss of idea. Always has something to talk about and always goes into great depth. Love it!
2020-12-11
3. Long Time Follower of Universe Today - The host is well-known in astronomy and science circles— Mr. Fraser Cain smartly hosts a ‘multi-media pronged’ endeavor that gives astronomy a sense of popularity and a new sense of purpose. Not since Carl Sagan— can I think of someone who has elevated science to a sense of purpose that many of us could follow as a template. Take you Fraser!

1. Absolutely smashing - While I listen to a few science (and sci-fi) podcasts, this one is by far my favorite. Super Massive is friendly, trustworthy, and I live for the honest rapport of Izzie, Dr. Becky and Dr. Robert. I’m always excited when a new episode drops because it’s like meeting up with my good friends and basking in the glow of their brilliance. Even people whom they interview seem to open up and enjoy themselves, sharing their enthusiasm along with fascinating information. The only “bad” thing is that I have to wait a whole month for the next one - though “hunger is the best seasoning” I suppose. All in all, % recommend to anyone with even a slight interest in our universe.

2. Best Podcast Ever - Totally obsessed with the format, knowledge sharing and production of these podcasts. Every time I listen in, I walk away with a deeper wonder and awe, not just of our universe, but of the humans who have dedicated their lives to exploration. Please keep up the work, Dr Becky and Izzie Clarke!
2022-01-14
3. Super Massive Praise - I simply cannot say enough good things about this podcast, Dr. Becky and Izzie are wonderfully conversational, enthusiastic, smart and adorable at the same time. I love the varied topics, I look forward to new episodes and I appreciate all the top notch guests and contributors. Thank You for increasing my knowledge of the Solar System, Universe, and Space Exploration and making it fun at the same time. Love and respect to all who make this one of the best podcasts available anywhere.

4. Good, but I wish it was all about the science - It’s great to see another quality British astronomy podcast. The topics are interesting and thoughtful, and the hosts do a great job presenting in a friendly, knowledgable, and slightly nerdy manner. I do wish the podcast didn’t deal with social issues at times, even when they are relevant. I follow astronomy as an escape from more stressful and contentious subjects, so being reminded of them in what I would like to be my safe zone is somewhat unwelcome.

1. Launches - Why do non-health focused podcasters feel the need to talk about Covid-? Most of most episodes are recordings of launches. It gets a little old. ..: Another report on COVID and climate change and cognitive decline. Why? ..… more recorded rocket launches. Boring. Would rather listen to SpaceNuts.
2023-01-09
2. Great content, terrible production - The data is great. It’s well read and the guest speakers are great. The commercials are turned up so loud it blows my ears out and who ever produces the commercials do things like scream in your ear, cough, grunt and whine really high pitched ridiculously rude and annoying childish antics. Who wants to hear someone smacking down a mouthful of potato chips on volume ? My one huge gripe about the content is the repetitive launch countdowns. Omg. We know how too count backwards from already. There is nothing intriguing about listening to that at all. Stuart bro you have a great voice and a good show hiding in a soup of nasty.
2022-11-17
3. Solid useful information - I enjoyed Space Time with Stuart Gary. I have gotten useful perspectives on things from outside the US. Good detailed reporting. Some reports from other sources he uses are hard to follow. Sound quality sometimes slips. I only quit listening because of pay wall. Retired and not wanting to add new expenses.
2022-09-22
4. Took a slide - Show took a slide. It was originally a good space news report with occasional opinions in support of saving the earth from man made climate change and some Sagan like words about the dangers of superstition. Then as time wore on, a competitiveness with China turned to conspiracy theories and then a full turn against anything perceived as lefty. What happened to the space news? Sad
2022-07-21
5. Raw audio and xenophobia - Decent podcast, I appreciate the additional news on other fields. But I don’t appreciate the lengthy raw audio of launches, they all sound the same and add nothing to the show. Also seems host is vaguely xenophobic against non western nations, especially China. Science is about objective facts not your “weird” opinions
2021-12-22
6. Let me explain something. - Podcast is an audio medium. That means we LISTEN to it. Please stop interviewing Rajjit Kuldressha CEO of Space Machines until you can get him on a better audio connection, and also, maybe do something about the aviary in which the interviews are conducted. (Please apply this advice to all interviews)
Otherwise, love the show. I have to skip over the space vehicle launches due to boredom though. You could reduce the length of the show if you skip the unnecessary previews of every segment before and after every segment. (A shorter program would be preferable to a long one stuffed with filler)
2021-03-24
7. Frequent misinformation - I was blown away today when I heard that “covid likely escaped a lab in China” in today’s episode followed up by some politics about censorship in relation to pvt tech companies who’s terms of service has been violated by a user and then subsequently removing them from the platform. Aka Trump and other people who routinely violate the terms and have had their account suspended. The top review here mentions this show is free from politics, quite the opposite, it’s frequently invaded by the kind of dog whistles and conspiracy jargon peddled by the radical right conspiracy theorists. Reported this show to Apple for spreading dangerous misinformation under the guise of science.
2021-02-10
8. Political bias force me to move from that show - As well as “China Virus” phrase wich have right to be, COVID actually from china and i got no problem with that, but after “First amendment” episode, man, so sad.
First amendment basically tell us that GOVERNMENT can’t be censor. Twotter,Facebook or all of the apps together have nothing to do with First amendment.
2021-01-10
9. Adequate Summary - The podcast does a decent job of summarizing current space/astronomy-related developments. Be prepared for: . The podcaster's essentially telling you ahead of time what an interviewee is going to say, in pretty much the same words; . Boring, seemingly-endless chatter from PR-types and technicians in connection with launches, (probably to fill podcast time); and . Frequent stories about "climate change" (and the supposed mental deficiencies or maladies of those who question the matter), the latest health scares, and other politically-correct matters having little or nothing to do with space, time, or spacetime. Nevertheless, liberal use of fast-forward will allow you to get an adequate update on matters of actual interest in about five to ten minutes of listening time.
2019-10-03
10. Love it, but... - Love this podcast, but Stu Gray is know-it-all who thinks he has to "jump" real scientists with their own words and discoveries instead of being the idiot journalist he is. Stu, get over it, you are not a scientist and would know a black hole from a a-hole. QUIT PUTTING YOURSELF INTO THE STORY
2019-01-14
11. The BEST Astronomy Podcast - I have listened to several different astronomy podcasts over the years. This one is far and away the best. It is the only one I make sure never to miss. Although Mr. Gary is apparently a scientific layman, the depth and breadth of his knowlege of astronomy, and space science are truly impressive. He obviously does not read just the popular literature. He on top of the important professional journals. This enables him to ask wonderfully insightful questions in his interviews of practicing scientists. I also enjoy his condensed audio feeds from space launches. I could go on and on, but I won't bore you. If you are interested in astronomy, listen to a couple of episodes of SpaceTime. You will be hooked.

12. Excellent Astronomy and Space Exploration Podcast - My wife and I have been long time listeners to this podcast. We were so incredibly sad when it was briefly cancelled by ABC (Australia). It is a great podcast for those interested in astronomy and space exploration. We appreciate that the topics are covered in greater detail than most news shows give these topics, and Stuart Gary does a great job lining up interviews with real experts on the topics.
2016-02-20
13. Star Stuff is as good as it gets! - I have been listening to Star Stuff for years; I listen to the day it comes downloaded. It’s a wrap up news from the Astronomical world from the last few days. It is fast-paced, informative and full of detailed interviews with experts who know their Star Stuff. This current incarnation gives us TWO episodes each. Often he tells me about Star Stuff that happened at Cape Canaveral, only miles from my house, that I wouldn’t otherwise have known. I don’t know how Stuart keeps up with all this Star Stuff - He must have a staff of a hundred ears and eyes, listening and watching. If you care about Star Stuff, this will fill your ears!

Comments
1. This Podcast Will Leave You Misinformed - This podcast is not one I would recommend to anyone, much less anyone who is very much interested in learning more about space and space adjacent topics. The conversations are framed very poorly and can in turn mischaracterize the subject matter at hand, leading to people likely coming out with inaccurate understandings of the topics discussed.
In particular, there’s an entire episode dedicated to solely the side effects of renewables. It’s was incredibly disingenuous and disappointing to frame the quote-unquote “complicated” topic of climate change by only discussing the side effects of each piece of renewable energy. A proper discussion should evaluate the pros and the cons to come at a holistic understanding of the subject at hand. This podcast just doesn’t quite do that though and mishandles some of the subject matter, in turn misinforming people. Some of the talking points used by the podcast can be dangerous, and are perpetuated by climate change deniers.
-Why would we only focus on the side-effects for any given thing, most especially for renewables? -Do the benefits still outweigh the cons? -Are things being overstated or not? For starting off by qualifying the topic as so “complicated” the podcast takes a particularly uncomplicated stance and effectively just serves to misinform listeners.

2. Pretentious podcast run by a clear narcissist. - The host (Fraser) seems to think very highly of himself. Mostly pointing out in small ways that he’s better or smarter than you. As a graduate with masters degrees in engineering, and one in astronomy I can tell you he’s not. He’s simply a pretentious narcissist whom seems to love to interrupt his co-host, (also pretty chauvinistic) and make the show about himself. Not much critical info here, pretty cringy to listen to lately due to his blatant narcissistic and unfounded arrogant displays, If you’re into astronomy, you can do far better for sure.

3. Favorite Podcast - This podcast is the one I always look forward to the most. I really enjoy the dynamic between Pamela & Fraser, along with the depth & relatability with which they treat each topic-those often seem to be treated as mutually exclusive, but Astronomy Cast has found the perfect habitable zone. Matt G.

4. Best regular astronomy content available - I’m extremely grateful to have found this podcast. I’m a layman who has always loved astronomy and took all my science electives in astronomy and physics. Anyone can understand the conversations without a technical background, but it still manages to be complex and in depth enough for an interested person with a basic background in the field. Listen to it.
2020-10-20
5. Addicting! - Just found this podcast the other day and WOW! I love the content and it makes me feel like I’m quietly sitting in on a meeting about what’s going on in the world of space and science exploration. Working my way from the early episodes to current. I’m really happy with the chemistry between everyone. Very friendly and the conversations complement each other’s intelligence about the topics talked about.

6. Amazing - I really like this podcast because it’s like my little secret lol its so interesting because they talk about things on a deeper level also nobody really knows exactly how much i love this so nobody would ever tease me about liking science and so its just sooooo amazing it’s cool how their content is bizarre and so intriguing.
2020-05-20
7. Astronomy Cast is Excellent. - Remarkable how Dr. Gay is able to explain even subtle aspects fo physics and astronomy in a clear and understandable way even without video. Most similar information services are video only. I greatly appreciate being able to learn from this podcast without sitting down to watch.
Update . Still true. I listen all the time. Even back episodes are useful. I just joined patreon to support the show.
2019-10-22
8. Awesome Show - Really really great show! They talk thoroughly and interestingly about science, physics, and astronomy. A great way to learn more about the world around us. ONE RECOMMENDATION it would be so awesome if you guys could organize the podcasts by season! I am powering through all the episodes from the beginning, and it stinks to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of a episode long list.
2019-05-26
9. Long intro - It takes - minutes of talking to actually get to the podcast. And the co host is extremely redundant. Fraser: good radio voice and easy to understand. Co host: can’t keep a consistent distant from microphone and whispers half of her phrases. If I turn up the volume to listen to her extremely dynamic tonalities I get blown out when ever Fraser talks.
2019-03-15
10. Perfect for Backyard Astronomers! - This podcast is the perfect springboard for backyard astronomers. There is enough detail in each episode to give you a good understanding of the topic, and it fuels your curiosity to dig deeper in the topics that interest you. Frasier and Pamela are such kind and fun tour guides to the cosmos. I can’t recommend it enough!
2018-11-18
11. Amazing!! My favorite. - I’ve been listening for past couple years, but when they started doing their update episodes, I finally took note of all their older episodes, which are great! I went back and started from ep. and am working my way through. I credit this podcast with getting me re-engaged with my love for science.

1. Very good except Intro and exit music - Main thing is the content which is very good, covers everything from the more complex theoretical physics to basic observational astronomy and everything in between. Sometimes a little too political but overall good. Major issue is the intro and exit music which is a disaster. It's a disturbing and discordant load of crap that must be changed.......PLEASE!

2. Love the shows, please remove the loud guitar - I listen to this nearly every night. My favorite podcast by far. Great set of hosts and shows rotating through. However, I absolutely hate the intro/outro. It’s like it’s included just to wake me back up or make my wife mad. Please replace it with something more relaxed.
2021-12-12
3. Good podcast but lose the guitar solo intro - I like to listen to the podcast when I go to bed or during a Sunday afternoon nap. I have one request, please change the intro/outro music (guitar riffs) to something a little quieter. While relaxing or dozing I’m suddenly shocked and awakened by the loud guitar riffs between shows. Maybe some atmospheric space music. I want to learn about astronomy not attend a Van Halen concert. Astronomy lends itself to a quieter, more introspective mind state. To begin and end the podcast with sudden, loud guitar riffs almost jolts me out of bed and is quite annoying. Otherwise I like the idea of a variety of podcasts like . It would be just about perfect if not for the loud music.

4. Less politics and more astronomy. - Episode and others. Its unfortunate that this “ Astronomy podcast” doesnt focus more on astronomy & cosmology and less on politics. Never a shortage of partisan politics in media, not even on my beloved astronomy show. I guess its more of a platform to promote a silly political view and less for one promoting science and astronomy. It figures.....
2018-09-23
5. Mixed blessing - days is a nice way to find good podcasts but is burdened with wat too much Paul Sutter. Dr. Sutter’s arrogant mocking of the decline of the once brilliant Stephan Hawking, his dismissive description of past Nobel prize winners and tendency to deride others work and constant solicitation / sales pitch for his latest trip is a bit too much. So, I suggest you do what I am doing today, listen for a month or two and then subscribe directly to the good shows and drop days.

6. LOVE the episodes on Solar Eclipses - I'm slowly turning myself into an Astronomy freak especially with the upcoming total solar eclipse. The information in these podcasts by Lewin is informative and provides simple steps that I am taking to make sure that I make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity. More importantly, he offers up tips on how to safely watch the eclipse, which is very important to me as the father to young boys. Cheers to this Canadian-born, all-star of a "podcaster!"

7. The most big bang for the buck podcast there is - Days of Astronomy Pod Cast is an amazing effort by mostly volunteers. Every day you get a new minute or so episode of astronomy related goodness. If I could give ten stars I would. I love this show. You will to... maybe not every episode, but with a new show every day, you will love enough. Subscribe now. Go through and listen to the back catalog. You'll thank me later. It's good stuff Maynard. jbs

8. Love It love It love It!!! - Except teaching EVIL-ution is a fact and not a theory annoys me greatly! If it were a fact then there would be no debate. I wish these dogmatic scientists would realize this, they are no different than the Pope teaching hellfire and purgatory as fact. How could all these countless stars and galaxies be by an accident? That's like throwing a million numbered balls in the air and expecting that when they land they'll be in numerical order..... It'll never happen no matter how many times you try. It's like the house we live in, never in an infinite amount of time will all the materials needed to make one, fall together and make itself on it's own, it's against all logic. So why would the universe be any different? % of religionist make God look crazy and that's why people look for an excuse not to believe in a creator and I have to say I don't blame them. But keep looking and you'll find a group who makes him look like the loving awe inspiring creator that he is. The one that "causes to become"...

9. Great shows (now with slimmed down theme song!) - Still crazy good after all these years. Excellent variety, breadth and interesting POVs. Something new every day for . years and consistently high quality. (Maybe two clinkers in all that time!) And, while George Hrab's theme song was a hoot, I'm glad to have the trimmed down theme after listening to it some times...Thanks for that.

10. Stellar podcasts - Cool to hear so many different people from all over the world: parents, professors and professionals all sharing their enthusiasm and personal knowledge. It makes you appreciate how accessible this science is, and that anyone can take part in contributing. I will omit my opinion of the jarring intro music - Subscribe to the -part weekly podcast and reduce the impact by percent! Many places to explore starting here!

11. Excellent! - These podcasts are a great way to learn about astronomy from interesting and qualified individuals. You are not bombarded with scientific jargon, but listening to these podcasts is still an educational experience. I'm so pleased that the wonders of astronomy are being introduced to the public and are becoming more accessible. I highly recommend these podcasts.
2009-11-11
12. Fun, but the theme song is hard to take - I like this podcast very much, but it starts with the same theme song every week. Now, the song is cute, and clever, once or twice. Once you've heard it enough times, it becomes obnoxious, and I have stopped this podcast and moved on because I was not in a place where I could fast forward past the theme music. Other than that rather small objection, this is a quality podcast that could probably stand being longer on average.
2009-11-08
13. These Podcasts Keep (You) Looking Up! - Engaging interviews, explanations and presentations on all things astronomical. Daily and weekly formats suit every type of podcast consumer. Designed specifically for the International Year of Astronomy , many fans hope to see the program continue for both the chance to listen and learn, and the opportunities for amatuers and professionsls the world over to share their star-studded stories.

1. The condom ads have got to go…. - Look, I’m an advocate for safe sex, but the condom ads are really over the top. Kinda difficult to listen to the podcast with my kids now. The ads are also about db louder than the show. This is the best podcast being produced right now, but these ads are terrible…..

2. Reign in the Callers - I found this podcast several years ago when Star Stuff kept sampling segments to pad his podcasts. It is a great source of information for laymen and the hosts are amiable and often self-deprecating. I like that they take questions from the audience and tolerate that they have audio questions from listeners. But that’s also a weakness. Many of the questioners go on and on often trying to show they have some level of knowledge. Indeed, one regular caller was actually allowed to co-host and he prattled on so much I dumped the episode. The only time I have done that. So to get that th star, be a bit more discerning about listeners’ queries.

3. Full of information...and entertaining - This is a great little podcast emanating from Australia...but they really know their stuff. Dr Fred is a world reknown astronomer and makes even the complaex easy to understand. Well worth subscribing... even if you only have a passing instrest in astronomy...

Pale Blue Pod is an astronomy podcast for people who are overwhelmed by the universe but want to be its friend. Astrophysicist Dr. Moiya McTier and comedian Corinne Caputo demystify space one topic at a time with open eyes, open arms, and open mouths (from so much laughing and jaw-dropping). By the end of each episode, the cosmos will feel a little less “ahhh too scary” and a lot more “ohhh, so cool!” New episodes every Monday. This podcast uses the following third-party services for an...

1. Love Dr. Moiya and Corinne’s dynamic - This is such a soothing listen! Dr. Moiya introduces so many scientific principles and explains so much about astrophysics in such a way that it is entertaining and relatable! Corrine keeps it on my level by asking the questions that someone without this degree of knowledge would ask. It’s so much fun becoming better friends with the universe!

2. Love this to Proxima B & Back! - I’m only a few episodes in but LOVING this podcast!!! Those of us that love space but math and large words were too hard for us to follow….this is for us!!! They make it so easy to follow and their friendly nature make you feel like your learning among friends. Love this!!

3. Political and biased - Listened to this to learn the basics of astronomy and space. They started to make comments about political figures which turned me off but I continued to listen. They then allowed their feelings and biased opinions to interfere with the facts. There were times they “refused” to say a scientist’s name or talk about them because they didn’t like them. Then they began expressing their opinions on political figures. I want to listen and learn about space…nobody cares about your feelings.

4. Big fan - A really fun way to learn about space (and laugh along, too!) The hosts are as entertaining as they are informative. Moiya is clearly an expert and distills concepts in a fun, accessible way, and Corinne is funny, charming, and curious—which makes it feel like I’m in the room with them. Big fan!

1. I couldn’t get past the microaggressions - I really wanted to like this show, but in several episodes the host does things like ask people with foreign-sounding names where they are from, poke fun at their names, and otherwise act completely ignorant about culture and how to respectfully address people who are different than you. Somehow, I assumed this guy was an academic, but looking at the other reviews I can see he isn’t and that there is also right wing propaganda. I wasn’t willing to listen past the intros. Not worth your time.
2021-08-08
2. Love it - I really enjoy astronomy, the history and the guests. I like the off-the-cuff candor the show’s host maintains—it is a refreshing change to the straight scientific rigor methodology of many podcasts. What I would like to hear more about would be Lyman-Alpha Blobs or clouds as incubating galaxies and other types of rare things we do not hear much about. Can we hear more about things like M Theory, String Theory, some of the new thinkers creating new theories and physics, etc. Thank you for a great show, David.

3. Great show. Hilarious host - Very insightful show for individuals, both with and without a science background. I enjoy the astronomy and climate episodes the most. Incredibly funny guy. And yes Brendan, I honestly did think you died of COVID during your month thesis hiatus....Very glad to hear your voice!

4. Awesome Podcast!! - This is such a good Podcast. I’d give him Five Stars (it’s really close .... Stars ), if he either wouldn’t mention the American President, or could at least be neutral. I do try to just fast forward through those parts, but it seems impossible sometimes. But hey, this is America right?! He’s got every right to freedom of speech!! As do I. So thanks for an almost Five Star Podcast Brendon, lol!! And I can assure everyone he does not give two ____’s what myself or anyone else thinks, which is another reason it’s a great podcast!!

1. Very enjoyable - I had been searching for quite a while for an interesting podcast. These podcast episodes are packed with a wealth of information and presented in a relaxing manner. Many nights I would put on this podcast and drift away to sleep listening. I hope this podcast continues and I want you all to know what a great job you are doing. Thanks Ref: Season , as far as season goes:

2. Very informative and interesting - I just finished season and can’t wait to see what comes for season . I enjoy learning about the infinite reaches of space and this podcast does a great job of teaching you in detail what we know about our solar system. No nonsense factual reporting of what is in store for us when we do eventually start sending humans to the far reaches of the known universe.

3. Good voice, bad voice. - I like Alexander Winn’s voice and I listen to this podcast to fall asleep. (I actually end up staying awake to listen because I think it’s super informative and also cool). But he has a really beautiful calming voice, which is just what I need after my long days. I was thrown for a loop when a girl’s voice came on. Not calming, not chill. Not really sure where she came from either? I’m sorry, just not a fan. I think I’ll just listen to reruns of the first episodes. Those were great listens. Definitely recommend this podcast though, love learning about planets and galaxies (Also not a gamer at all, like I can barely play Mario Kart - but this podcast made me look up his game, bravo). Still hope humans can start taking care of our own planet better, but that’s irrelevant to this review.
2021-08-31
4. Best space podcast out there - I have listened to a lot of space podcasts, but none as captivating as this one. The team that makes it maintains high production quality, great information, and a perfect mix of science and creativity all in one. My sole complaint would be that I want more…. I would probably listen every day if it was a daily podcast. If the creators see this thank you for making this! Please never stop!
2021-08-06
5. I’ve been searching for a podcast like this! - I just discovered “Settle the Stars” today, //, and it’s such a great podcast. The first couple episodes incorporate a game which I’ve never played, but after a couple episodes I downloaded it in an attempt to relate more with the podcast. Before even playing it, the narrator announced that after reading reviews and responses, they were going to limit the mentioning and focus more on the educational, and mental imagery, of traveling to each planet or celestial body, and with that simple stroke of genius, this great podcast got even better. I’m almost in tears listening to them describe Mars, and arriving at the planet, speaking of all past orbiting missions, landers, and rovers. It’s so relevant today and these stories are complex and intriguing. I’m a space nerd and I learn so much from every episode. Thanks everyone!
2021-08-05
6. Pretty freaking cool man - This is an ideal podcast: the host is genuine and has actual scientific content to share that keeps the listeners intrigued, not to mention that terraforming and the science behind it is truly -in his words- breathtaking! His story is cool, and I’d love to hear more science in as much depth as possible. The time for each episode is the perfect amount, enough to have content, but short enough so as not to lose someone in too much discussion and avoiding tangents.
2021-07-20
7. Really interesting - I’m really interested in sci-fi, terraforming, paraterraforming, and space exploration in general. It’s why I started playing the game. I really love the podcast breaking down these topics and all the associated information. I love that the creators are listening to what listeners are interested in and are shifting focus. I’m excited to see where this goes. The future topics I’d be interested in would be more astrobiology and maybe evaluating the realism of sci-fi books.
2020-12-19
8. YAY! - When I found this game, I thought it would be some silly Sci-fi game. It’s not. This is the greatest game, and greatest podcast ever. Ever! Thank you so much! One thing, it would be cool if you made a planet near a black and we had to save it from being swallowed! Thanks!
By the way, please make more episodes!
2020-11-21
9. Love this podcast - I’ve been playing the game for years. It’s nice to hear about the science behind the game. Now me, I’m a total video game and physics nerd, so to hear a podcast like this that talks about both is really exciting. It kind of reminds me of Because Science on YouTube, where Kyle Hill talks about fandom in a sciencey way and makes it sound exciting. And not to mention the game itself is the MOST RELAXING GAME I’VE EVER PLAYED. Keep up the good work, Alex.
2020-07-10
10. This is amazing - Aside from an amazing game, the science behind all of this is truly fascinating, I love to hear the process of how and why certain stats in the game are the way they are. I love to hear the science behind terraforming and I would love for you to really jump in to the numbers of such things! Thank you for this!
2020-02-27
11. Wonderful podcast for an amazing game! - Matt’s voice reminds me of the professor who helped me find my passion for ecology, because Matt is relaxing and shows appreciation for his studies and the universe. The content is also fascinating, as it delves a bit more into the nitty gritty of terraforming! If you haven’t played, I completely recommend the game as well. Soon, you’ll be getting expansions...

1. Entertaining and informative podcast - Naked Astronomy is excellent, both in the breadth of its content and the entertaining and approachable way it's presented. The hosts are experts in their field and the subject matter they tackle is ambitious, but they manage to convey their stories in an understandable way. They don't dumb it down, and sometimes it's a challenge to follow complex topics, but it's always fascinating and enjoyable.

1. Authentic & Empowering! - Karen Curry Parker is the real deal! I’ve come across a lot of Human Design People during my research and studies of it in the past couple of years and it was often times challenging to sit through some of the explanations of this beautiful modality of self growth and awareness because of the lack of intent, and natural connection and “feel good” vibe however Karen and the Understanding Human Design Community is ALL about the awakened language of Quantum Human Design, coming from a place of Love and heart, and truly reflect an authentic mission of love and empowerment for others! 1. No longer a science podcast - I use to enjoy this podcast, but it is no longer about science. It now uses science headlines to push political agendas. Believe me, I am am as worried as everybody else, but Don't want a full throttle assault at EVERY turn. There are plenty of political podcast. In fact, it is nearly impossible to to escape the toxic nature of political discussion today. Why can't I find an escape?
2018-06-28
2. Uninformative - I followed the promotion to hear “Bill Nye’s Advice to Tackle Climate Change” and it was just him reading from his recent book. He tells how he flew (!) to China for a conference and is bothered by the fact that Chinese people want to use cars instead of bicycles to improve their lives. Curse them! They want to live like he does!
2015-11-18
3. Generally sound, but weird pronunciations of technical terms - I areas that I know something about, Lee seems accurate and understandable. But I don't understand where he gets some of his pronunciations! E.g. right after a fine explanation of the parts of the term "polymerase" he continues saying it in a way that entirely obscures the "polymer-" in it. Also, nucleotides can constitute a codon, not a codone (which starts to sound like the drugs hydrocodone and oxycodone!). If these are regionalisms, he needs to say something about it, like "Though I don't in general have a British accent, you might want to know that I trained in the UK and pronounce some terms in their way". (Also, please don't rely on online pronunciation generator sites that are merely algorithmic! Yes, you can find one or two that say pah-LIM-eraze, but that doesn't make it right.)

4. Applicable Science in min - Neat little podcast that pushes science forward. Each is not too wordy, long or too detailed yet provides the listener with a tidbit of useable information. Nowadays most young people see science as too hard, boring or not worth the time or effort. These podcasts bring applicable science to everyday situations with the intent of sparking interest to study the subject further. In other words, he shares the information in hopes you’ll get bitten by the science bug. His passion to share science with inquisitive minds show - especially Chemistry. Soccer moms, this is an awesome podcast for the captive audience on the way to/from practice. Way to go Dr Falin!
2013-12-08
5. Frusturatingly grazes the surface, like many other a sceince podcast - I am a fan of most of the Quick and Dirty Tips podcasts, and got this podcast recently, and started listening through. Terms are oversimplified at best, and jump wildly from topic to topic, without going deeper, as if the withheld information would be too much for the listener, opting instead for reductive unworkable metaphors. My stopping point came when I ran into "The Science of Violence" episode. This was just an opportunity for the podcaster to grandstand, and he knew it. He even discouraged dissension, with a vaguely saber-rattly tone toward the end. This entire podcast is not up to the standards of the other Quick and Dirty Tips podcasts I am subscribed to and love. Get rid.
2013-10-03
6. Finally! A fun and easy to understand science podcast! - Most science podcasts are either really pedantic or really simplistic. That's why I was so THRILLED when Everyday Einstein came along. Dr. Lee Falin has the scientific chops but explains things in such a fun and easy way that I am never left confused or wondering at the end. I learn something new with every podcast and eagerly look for new installments. Thanks Dr. Failn! Keep 'em coming

Join amateur astronomers, Chris and Shane, as they share their experiences of observing the night sky.
Release date: 2023-03-23
Comments
1. Best podcast for amateur astronomers - One of the very few astronomy podcasts that deals with actually going out into your yard and looking at the stars and planets. Chris and Shane are like a couple of friends who share your hobby of astronomy and we have a couple of chats each week about what to look at and what to get to better see it. The podcast is a mix of what’s going on in the night sky, what equipment is available and how to use it, with some guests thrown in to provide information on related topics such as building your own telescope or promoting dark skies. As a novice astronomer with no one close by who shares my interest, this is a must-listen-to podcast. Thanks guys and keep up the good work! Clear skies.
2023-03-02
2. Best visual astronomy podcast out there! - Actual Astronomy is by far the best podcast out there for visual observers. I came to the hobby in as an absolute novice and Chris and Shane have taught be basically everything I know. I know for sure I would not have gotten such enjoyment out the hobby without their advice and guidance. Wish I could give more than stars!
2023-02-27
3. Great show for observers of outer space! - Chris and Shane share a wealth of experience encompassing the breadth of amateur astronomy. They’ve developed their own niche interests (refractors, sketching, books, vintage telescopes, solar, etc.) but they frequently interview guests to shed light on other topics. The show is always informative and inspires this listener to be a better observer.
2023-02-17
4. My new favorite podcast - I am very excited to have found this podcast! Chris and Shane have a great thing going here. Informative, inspirational and entertaining. I can’t believe I’ve only just found this show. I’ve been missing out. If you love night sky observing you’ll love this show. Great content! Thanks guys for all you’re doing here.
2023-02-11
5. Astronomy with a focus on Observing and Equipment - Chris and Shane are constantly improving their podcast. My favorite episodes "Objects to Observe in _(month)____” come out once a month. They give a brief introduction for beginners then move on to readily viewable deep sky objects and solar system events. I love to share those with newbies to the hobby. At the same time I always gleen several items from the podcast that I have never observed before. The rest of the episodes contain and eclectic mix of astronomy conversations between them, conversations with with special guests, and deep dive conversations about observing smaller areas in the sky. Most other Astronomy podcasts tend to focus more on spaceflight operations, astro physics or other armchair disciplines. Because The Actual Astronomy Podcastthe content is observing focussed (how to, observing resources, equipment, resources), it really motivates me to get out of my armchair, to go outside, and to get some observing in under the evening (and sometimes morning) sky.
2023-01-26
6. Chris and Shane - Great content for beginners and experienced Amateur Astronomers alike. The release schedule is consistent which avoids potentially becoming frustrated as with some other podcasts. Thank you both for encouraging me to update some equipment and get out and observe! Now if only the skies would clear... Patrick (SE Michigan)

7. My favorite astronomy podcast! - These guys are great! If it’s no nonsense Astronomy conversation you want, this is the place to find it. Chris and Shane have a passion for observing the night sky and their topics are always interesting and informative. I’ve pretty much stopped listening to all of the other astronomy podcasts. And not only are their episodes great… They’re publishing new one’s quite frequently. Thanks for all your effort in producing this podcast. You’ve inspired me to get my ” LX SCR out of storage and take a fresh look at the stars!!!
2023-01-13
8. Best visual observing podcast. Period! - This is the best astronomical visual observing podcast. Period! Whether you are an experienced observer or just curious about the practice you need to listen to this podcast. Chris and Shane know what they are talking about. They cover it all. Objects to observe, every piece of gear observers use, observing reports from listeners, you name it. If it involves the art and practice of visual observing these guys talk about it. Subscribe. You won’t regret it.
2023-01-03
9. It’s Stellar - I look forward to Chris and Shane’s insights and varied topics each week. There hasn’t been an episode yet where I haven’t taken a note, looked up a product, or put a reminder to try and learn more about something they may have touched upon. They have a great way of “dummying down” many things that a relative newcomer like me can really appreciate Don S.
2022-12-21
10. Awesome Podcast for practical astronomy! - I’m a newcomer to astronomy (a lifelong interest, but spurred on by pandemic boredom) and have come to love Chris and Shane’s podcast. I’ve even listened to all the episodes twice and gain even more knowledge as my experience grows! There are lots of podcasts about science and astrophysics but very few about how to actually get out and be successful under the night sky - this is the best one I’ve found. Keep up the great work guys!
2022-01-18
11. How-to astronomy for everyone - There are plenty of podcasts that will educate you about the planets, stars, and other celestial bodies, but where do you go if you want to actually look at these objects with your own two eyes. This is where you go, and you’ll get all of the information you need to get started, and to be successful, in amateur astronomy. No gimmicks, no shouting, no theatrics; just two fellows having a conversation all beginners can benefit from. It’s the best amateur astronomy podcast in the universe! Five out of five stars!
2020-12-21
12. My favorite astronomy podcast - Chris and Shane really have a great thing happening. Finally a podcast about “doing” astronomy. They are humble guys with tremendous knowledge and practical podcasts. They also brave the cold. I don’t know what -ºC is in Fahrenheit but it sounds like my tongue would stick to my telescope for sure. Keep up the great work guys!

1. Annoying acting - Mostly started listening for educational purposes but I’m unsure if this is meant for kids. The acting makes the listening experience excruciating . The science behind the stories doesn’t need the acting and pretending as it offers its own way to stimulate the mind. I don’t think I can listen anymore as it drives me nuts.
2021-11-03
2. Journey to the Stars - There are a number of very interesting space podcasts out there. Hostile Worlds seeks to keep things simple and teach you a bunch about our universe at the same time. When science and scientists are needed, the show delivers. Otherwise, it's a fun cast putting a lot of great humor into a very entertaining show that is journeying to the stars.
2018-02-22
3. Can't wait for more! - I knew I wanted to come write a review before I'd finished the first five minutes of the first episode. Usually when I write a review for a podcast, I don't get around to it for months. This podcast is just so mesmerizing and immersive. It's not quite fiction, but it feels like an audio-drama.
2017-09-22
4. An Imagination-Engaging Space Voyage - For all the podcasts I've listened to, I've never written a review. Though it only has a single true episode out thus far, this podcast has established a specific style and set of content. Their style and content will certainly be an informative adventure that people who love space, as I do, will be hungering for as often as they can pump out new episodes. Nice work, Hostile Worlds.

1. Excellent content, poor volume control - I asbolutely love the people and content of this podcast. But when I listen to it I can barely hear most people then Hugh blows out my ear drums with some mic-kissing thunderous conmentary. I had to unsubscribe when the loudness mess almost blew out my car's speakers and my ears.

1. Great podcast for dark-sky lovers! - I found Vicky’s podcast earlier this year () and was ecstatic to hear someone have such enthusiasm and love for the night sky like I do. Her show is so well produced I would have thought she had been doing this for years. And her guests are such amazing people who do amazing things for dark-sky education and conservation, and they all have such unique backgrounds and talents that address this wonderful topic in various ways that anyone listening can relate to. Then the star tours at the end of the episodes are so great for new star gazers to help familiarize themselves with the night sky. I love the Night Sky Tourist podcast and I will continue to listen to it religiously. Thank you Vicky for all that you do for dark skies!

5. Fun, Relaxing and Smart! - This podcast takes that occasional deep stare of wonder I take into the stars and deepens it on a regular basis with awesome segments, including helping me find things in the night sky with my own eyes while I’m listening to the Star Tour segment. 6. Interesting, Fun Facts & Stories - I highly recommend this podcast even for those like me who didn’t spend much time learning about the night sky. Comments
1. Sounds like high schoolers - When I think back to cosmic vertigo I have a great fondness for learning. Now I feel like I’m listening to gossiping high schooler who only know tiktok. Like omg. I couldn’t make it through the first full podcast without having to stop and listen to something else. Maybe I’ll try again in another years…
2021-08-27
2. Favorite podcast about space - I’ve tried different podcasts about space over the years, and Cosmic Vertigo is by far the best. The hosts have great chemistry and really know their stuff (and how to communicate it). The editing and production is also perfect, which keeps the episodes tight and interesting.
2018-02-06
3. Bravo, Cosmic Vertigo! - This is a fantastic podcast for anyone who loves astronomy, loves science, or just loves to learn. Who knew that conversations between two brilliant and fun astronomers discussing mind-bending cosmic concepts could be so down-to-earth? The jaunty, friendly and engaging style of Dr. Amanda Bauer and Dr. Alan Duffy on Cosmic Vertigo draws the listener in and creates sheer awe and wonder for the listener...leading to CosmicVertigo. Their ability to laugh, have fun, sing and ask questions, in order to explain the biggest mysteries of the universe is quite refreshing! It's the only science show I've listened to (or watched) that has made me laugh out loud with delight. It makes me want to learn more. And I have. What’s more, Joel Werner’s masterful production is a work of art—so creative, bravo! [cue applause sound effect here.] Can’t wait to see what Season brings--keep up the excellent work!

1. Wicked Fun - I love your interviews, James! I can’t give you five stars only because I’m not hung-ho about space travel. (I’m a bit of a Luddite) I believe that all our resources need to go into saving our home planet. I would like to send you a one-time contribution of $, but it insists I maKe monthly payments only. How do I get around that?
