1. Perfect Companion - You don't want to tackle the Road to Hana without this as your companion guide. It's perfect for the couple or family who like to take on adventures together without the crowd of a tour bus. The suggested stops, culture and history contained in this guide are spot on. And don't miss the "beyond!"

1. Good book - Great adventure on a man who had a passion to see,the world from a bicycle's view. This is like reading three books because of the different types of people and terrain is covered in the book. If you like adventure you'll like this book however it does have lots of detail like a travel log.

1. The Philosophy of Cheap Flights - I really wondered how a book about cheap flights could warrant pages. But Scott Keyes has really created a book about the macro and micro trends in travel and how cheap flights factor into and are affected by all of it. He gets into some interesting philosophical debates about economy versus premium travelers, the impact of travel on the climate, and the psychology of why we travel and what it means for our happiness. True to its title, the book gets right at squashing fallacies and shedding light on what really works when it comes to booking low cost airfare. Scott Keyes shares his seasoned insight on the inner workings of the airline industry using various charts, lists, anecdotal examples, studies, and analogies. Note, though, that the majority of these tips are for budget travelers who don’t have the restrictions or demands of business travelers. Indeed, the key mantra of the book is flexibility. The flexible traveler will be able to spend less on each flight and take more trips. A key tenant is that the you should let the price dictate the destination and then open yourself up to a better overall experience when you arrive. The savings going towards better accommodations, dining, along with the removal of the pressure to do more because of what you spent on your tickets. A fun and fast read, I recommend it to those planning their post pandemic adventures.

1. Ready for Adventure - I feel like I found this book at the perfect time in my life. I've never read something that resonated so strongly with me before. Even before I'd finished the first chapter, I was inspired and committed to go on travels on my own. If you've ever dreamed of traveling, I can't recommend this book highly enough.

1. The process that is the journey - Having read many books written by adventurous women and men setting out to fulfill a dream of theirs, the best of them include physical challenges, taking personal risks, adapting to unexpected circumstances, learning new skills and opening one's mind and heart to understand the gifts of the journey as they are presented, whether the adventurer is ready or not. This book certainly belongs among them. The author/adventurer captures her experiences, even the most ephemeral, in words that allow the reader to share in them. Her love and respect for the animals she travels with, and her ability to be observant of them and honest with herself, make this book a treat for animal lovers, with information on camels and a perspective on camel/human interaction which is hard to come by. The book also reminds you that the preparation for the journey is an integral part of the journey, and may in fact make that journey seem anticlimactic. It's a wonderful story, and well worth reading!

1. Interesting BUT... - I wouldn't take this as a true-to-life account of what it's like to work on a cruise ship. I'm not saying that the book is fiction... Just that only a very tiny percentage of cruise ship employees have the kind of schedule & freedom that the author has. Most cruise ship employees work hours a day and don't get to sleep in whenever they feel like it. That having been said, it was a good book and very interesting. The price is maybe a little high, but it was a good read.

2. The Truth About Cruise Ships - a fun read that told a three time "Mariner" a lot about life on board that I suspected, but didn't know for sure. I love a drink or two -- or even three, but, WOW, does working on a cruise ship really cause alcoholism?!?!?! ...and I love a roll in the hay too. I wonder if the author is true to his wife considering his non-stop on-board adventures.

3. Truth about cruise ships - Excellent book if you want to find out what really goes on behind the scenes of the cruise you take! It really opens your eyes what it takes to make a ship run. It's not always fun and games for the crew. the Loveboat show was such a farce. I can't imagine that anyone leaves their jobs without an STD or the disease of Alcoholism! Jay,you are extremely lucky. I don't think JB was - he either has alcoholic cirrhosis or is dead by now. Maybe he found A.A.?? I would recommend this book to anyone who has taken a cruise before, as it was sooooooo interesting!

1. Helpful and to the point - I’m looking to travel for the first time with my infant when he’s months old and wanted to make sure I had some solid advice and the essential travel gear. This fit the bill. I’m a Lucie’s List subscriber and this short read was the same no-nonsense advice served with good sense of humor.

1. Unbelievable - This should have been named "A narcissistic moron manages to survive a lame expedition against all odds". He then gives no credit to many of the people who helped him, failed to appreciate the very jungle he claims to love, has no understanding (and no apparent interest in) the local people and how they manage to survive in these remote communities. Still, go ahead and read it because it really is unbelievable how self-absorbed this guy is.

2. Disappointing - This is an incredibly lame book. It had potential, but turns out to concentrate more than anything on the author. He belittles and berates the people who tried to put up with him as traveling partners, and lays the blame on them for their leaving the adventure, which was really just the author's obsession. The author attempts to justify his obsession by saying that it was for the good of the rainforest and the indigenous people, but I'm at a loss to recognize how he and his trip benefited anything other than the author. I kept reading, hoping for something more, but it left me completely flat. A waste of time and money (the book, I mean; draw your own conclusions on the author's walk).

1. Great book on diving - This is a great book about the history of diving, as well as the entertaining stories Chowdhury gives. Once I started I couldn't put it down, there are not many books like this about diving. I have this on the same shelf as the benchmark, Caverns Measureless to Man, by the cave diving great Sheck Exley. Bernie is a nice guy and is genuinely interested in the advancement of the sport, including hyperbaric medicine. A must-read for any serious diver.

2. No thanks - This story had a lot of potential, but the author took so many tangents throughout the book that I often forgot I was reading a story about the Rouse's. He tried to fit too much "history of diving" into the book that it just got boring. The parts that actually are about the Rouse's are good but they're sandwiched in between irrelevant information ,and back stories about people who don't really contribute to the story. Lackluster at best.

1. Helpful for trip planning - I read this a couple of times before my first cruise to have a good idea of what to expect. Because of this book, there were no major surprises with planning, organizing, budgeting or scheduling for our cruise. Really helpful since this was our first cruise experience. Then, believe it or not, I read parts of it again after the cruise to relive the fun we had!
