1. A lesson in determination - I have watched the movie and listened to all its songs with delight. I love all the tracks and the actors. The movie shows what the mind is capable of if the will to accomplish it is there. Never underestimate your opponent and be off mutual respect regardless of your appointed position. Oppression only uplifts and empowers the oppressed, therefore, living in unity provisions peace rather discord.

2. utterly accessible, totally melodic, simply gorgeous - One of A.R. Rahman's best. One of his VERY best. Every song is a winner, and some of them (like Mitwa) are transcendent. You simply can't go wrong with this album. And it's really the perfect introduction to A.R. Rahman -- this and Delhi (for a taste of his most current sound).

3. Just Simply Beautiful - I fell in love with this movie when I had to watch it in my World History class in high school. I loved it! I'm so excited that iTunes finally has the album. The songs are beautiful even if you don't know what is being said, but if you watch the movie, there are subtitles when the songs are being played. I recommend this album to everyone.

4. Foreign Language Week - My entire high school watched the movie for Foreign Language Week, and it was lovely. Everyone that's coming on here to pick up a song or two from the movie after watching it, you know where I'm coming from. Several students loved the movie, and the music. Myself included. Not all my favorite, and I'm not really a big Bollywood fan at all. But the song they sing in the rain, with the guy doing the sprinkler. Yeah.

1. One of the Best Bollywood Soundtracks of the Year ! - Not only is the movie amazing and hilarious, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing. Every song on the soundtrack is a hit. Khabar Nahin is a soft and melidous track, very romantic. Maa da Ladla is fun and the remix, which is not included on this cd, is even more upbeat. Kuch Kum is one of the best sad songs out there. Desi Girl is extremely fun, along with Shut Up and Bounce. Jaane Kyun is very happy and light. The songs are very good and also modern.

1. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! - I love love love this movie and it's soundtrack!!!! I love that iTunes made an album because all of them are my favorites. If you want my opinion on the best I will have to say bole choudiyan. SOOOOO glad it's an album. I also like and recommend Suraj hua madham, you are my soniya, deewana hai dekho, and say Shava Shava. Best music ever.

2. SRK AND KAJOL rock in this movie!!! - the songs in this album are superb, especially the ones meant for srk and kajol. the best part of this movie was when kajol punctures srk's tire and they say a dialogue from kuch kuch hota hai. All the songs, especially suraj hua maddham are beautiful and kinda traditional. here are the must buys Suraj hua maddham, Bole chudiyan, Shava Shava(of course), and Yeh Ladki hai Allah. You are my soniya is good too.

3. kabhi khushi kabhie gham rocks!!!!! - This album is one of my all-time favorites!!! For one thing it includes my favorite song, Suraj Hua Maddham...I can picture Shah Rukh and Kajol (Rahul and Anjali) expressing their love amidst the Great Pyramids right now. This song is so romantic, but with a sort of haunting quality as well(probably because at the time they were singing the song-or should i say the playback singers were singing..oh well-they thought that their love would only remain a dream). The lyrics are gorgeous, the singing is right on, and the music gives me goosebumps...especially the beginning of the song...amazing!!!! Every song is great with the slight exception of Deewana Hai Dekho. The absolute best are Suraj Hua Maddham, Yeh Ladka Hai Allah, Bole Chudiyan, and Say Shava Shava. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and all its "parts" can really move you, but only if you've seen the movie...listening to the sad parts bring tears to my eyes instantaneously. And if you're looking for a really fun song then You Are My Soniya is perfect. This movie was made with aesthetics in mind and the music was no exception. A must buy.

4. Bollywood Classic!!! - Finally I can get a copy of this all time classic...this movie is for the entire family! I absouletly love this movie and soundtrack thank you itunes for sharing !!! One of Yash Raj best movies of all time!!!! Keep them coming..this movie and soundtrack will make you laugh, cry all of the above...!!

1. I like bollywood but.... - Why must the Kronos quartet be so fawned apon for discovering Indian pop? I like the stuff on it's own terms and I don't need the Kronos to tell me to like it because they think they're special. Asha Bhosle is great, go buy her albums but PLEASE Kronos settle down and go play some quartet music for once!
2008-02-08
2. THIS IS OLD STUFF - LOOK I'M A YEAR OLD GIRL LIVING IN THE USA FOR OR MAKE THAT YEARS OF MY LIFE, I NEED SONGS FROM NEW MOVIES LIKE DHOOM , LAGE RAHO MUNA BHAI WHICH IS KINDA OLD AND ETC. NOT SONGS FROM THE ICE AGES!!!THIS STUFF IS POPULAR IN INDAI. AND I ONLY GO THERE A YEAR DO UNTIL THEN ITUNES GET NEW SONGS!!!

3. Amazing - if you are at all into the nostalgia of bollywood this is a great chance to experience some of the golden oldies. Asha Bhosle is one the worlds greatest singers and teaming up with the Kronos Quartet just makes her that much more amazing. you may be a little confused at first but it is well worth it!

4. You've Stolen My Kronos - This is a strange production: the famous string quartet's take on R.D. Burman's music left me rather confused at first. But I do like it more and more as I keep discovering very interesting nuances in the musical fabric. My introduction to Kronos was through the violent soundtrack to Requiem for a Dream, and I was hoping for something radical here, a jazzy classical Bollywood fusion, but they almost disappear in the mix. The first question may be "Where's Kronos?" I have been listening to Bollywood soundtracks for years and my Bollywood playlist has hundreds of songs, many procured here on iTunes: everything from good ol' Kishore Kumar to all the latest flicks, and this Kronos outing would blend in there just fine. And that's the problem- some tracks on this CD sound just like the originals, especiallly Dum Maro Dum. But there are some enhancements, too subtle to pick up at first: strange sound of the instruments, old fashion keyboards adding surreal touch, dissonances and weird sounds- elephants, occasional laughter, and a wicked James Bond thing in Saiyan Re Saiyan, plus that woozy feel of string quartet gone native. Asha Bhosle's voice is as good as ever- her and her sister, the great Lata Mangeshkar are like Placido Domingos of the Indian music, and will only retire when they are years old. And I really loved the subdued, instrumental Mehbooba Mehbooba- if you know the raunchy original version, from the Sholay movie soundtrack, it's something new and different. In essence, Kronos have stripped these compositions, leaving the skeleton and adding their own subtle colors. Nothing radical- but it is a gentle, tickling listening pleasure... Once you have ingested a whole lot of mainstream Bollywood songs and yearn for something new and interesting, you should get A.R. Rahman's Dil Se soundtrack and start exploring the brave new world of remixes, but if this music is new U, Stolen Heart will serve as a great Bollywood appetizer, and a very tasty Kronos dish, all at once.

1. Why did I have to see Devdas before this? - This movie's soundtrack is WONDERFUL! I would reccomend buying the whole album because the CD is a good mix of slow, sad, fast, happy, and in-the-middle songs. Personally, my favorite would have to be Tujhe Yaad Na Maeri. These songs are also perfect for travel since the lyrics are interesting to listen to and keep you alive. As the title suggests I JUST listened to Devdas before I listened to this and that being my favorite album EVER, this album recieved a lower rating. Although, beware of the cheaper version of this album, it is infact in Telegu (or marathi, it could actually be anything besides Punjabi). Loved th whole thing and gve it a thumbs up. Note: there are some short songs under minutes that I would suggest not buying, most of them are just other longer songs cut down to fit other parts of the movie.

2. kuch kuch hota hai ROCKS!!!! - This movie is the sweetest, cutest, nicest movie ever. The music is great.I especially like the title song "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai." It so nicely written and sang. And Saajanji Ghar Aaye. This has been my absolute favorite movie since i was . The movie is a must-see. Shahrukh Khan and Kajol are sooo cute together.

The melody is so soothing and gives me goosebumps! The movie is such a perfect movie about love, romance and also bromance. Ali, Sidharth and Varun did an amazing job in this movie! Hope to see them in more movies in the future!

2. In Love!!! - I love this movie so much!!! Siddharth, Varun, and Alia did an amazing job as newcomers! I'm completely in love with Siddharth's character Abhimanyu! I bought this whole album and now I can't stop listening/dancing to it! All of the songs are AMAZING! Especially Radha, Vele, Kukkad, and Ishq Wala Love!.....iTunes should definitely put up the videos of all the songs especially Radha!!!

3. Karan Johar really has taste for good music his movies!! - Vishal-Shekar did a good job with this soundtrack. Radha/Ishq Wala Love songs r well tuned. However the one that takes the cake is The Disco Song, taking the sample from Nazia Hassan's Disco Deewane really works beautifully. This is a wonderful tribute to Nazia Hassan. A very catchy tune buy the album.

1. Won me - I have not enjoyed a soundtrack in a long time as much as this! Gerua and Janam Janam have definitely stolen my heart. They make me want to fall in love, and it just makes me feel so pure, and passionate again. Premika and Tukkur Tukkur are such fun beats and definitely songs that have not failed to make me enjoy my time in hour long traffic. I always want to just get up and start dancing when I hear them. The theme is just beautiful and I cannot wait to see how these songs are shot. Beautiful soundtrack. Truly Dilwale style

1. Current favorite Bollywood movie&soundtrack - The movie is one thing but the soundtrack is wonderful! It's a variety of romance, sorrow, happiness, and fun! The melodies are perfect, singing/singers are flawless, it just has a vintage almost Italian style to it with a small twist of Indian but you can definitely hear it. I just love listening to it so freaking much, pretty simple :)

2. A Nice Change - The whole album is so refreshing and light; reflects the innocence and purity of the central characters. However, I am a bit skeptical after seeing that Pritam is the music director... I hope it doesn't turn out that one of these beautiful melodies has been "inspired" by some other song from elsewhere. All in all, a really wonderful album AND film :))

1. Amazing Soundtrack - I was captivated by this film. I took friends ti see it, bought the album and then bought the all three Dhoom DVDs. For me, was by far the best. My favorite track is Bande Hain Hum Uske. Once one knows the film, it's hard to listen to it without getting slightly teary. Great filmmaking and music!

1. BLACKJACK ! - This album is just picture perfect - about an year or so ago was Rockstar ( stars). Rahman continues to surpass his best with each upcoming album. Dhanush s blessed to have such music for his Bollywood debut. Cheers ! Hope Maryan has an audio as brilliant as this one .. Looking forward.

2. decent effort - I am the biggest Rahman fan around as I own everything he ever produced irrespective of the language. Sadly, this is not very good. Rahman has gone away from his signature style that made him famous, perhaps even got him the oscar, in favor of experimentation. Unfortunately such experimentation does not work and the album is worth listening in songs like tu mun shudi and nazar laye which oozes of his traditional style.

3. Melodious / Beautiful to Mediocre ?!! - As usual..expectations arouse when i heard 'Tum tak' first with the movie preview.
Then was released 'Tum tak'..even though we have heard similar stuff from ARR before..but seemed really fresh with beautiful lilting musical notes and melody. I completely loved this song. When its ARR even though you have the feeling that i have heard this before, you kind of ignore that feeling and embrace the new song. Thats the magic of his music. Then the title track, "Raanjhanaa" again a beautiful composition. Infact i felt may be this is better than "Tum Tak". Well for me both are really beautiful :) Then came "Tu Mun Shudi", again this song reminded of music we have heard from him before..a song from "Rang de basanti". Still would rate it good. Now the entire album is released..and to my surprise rest all tracks are so mediocre. "Phir Milenge" is slightly above mediocre. Well no one expected this from ARR. I wish he could have done a better job. Now a days, this is the trend with most of the music dirs. they have couple of chart busters to attract the audience initially and then when you listen to the entire album you feel you were cheated. ARR needs to do better, don't remember what his last decent complete album was..Raavan was good could have been better, Rockstar was the best of the lot lately..Jab tak hai Jaan (would say one of his terrible albums), Kadal was slightly refreshing. ARR sir we are missing your magic! My fav list is as follows Raanjhana (/)
Tu Mun Shudi (./)
Tum Tak (./)
Piya Milenge (/) Next album i am awaiting is the Bhaag milkha bhaag.."Zinda" and "Mera Yaar" both superior in their own way..lets hope what the complete album has to offer.

4. Musical treat - This is definitely a worth buy. I really enjoyed all the songs. As usual all the songs were average on first listen. But now i hooked on to all the songs. Tum tak, piya milege, title track are so addictive. Song flow is very different and has variety of instruments used like sitar, shenai, manjeera and tabla. Waiting to see these songs in the big screen.
2013-06-07
5. Brilliant composition - Yet again Rahman proves why he is so far ahead of the rest. He does not force current popular trends into an album if it does not make sense. And so what you re left with is brilliant music that's relevant to the film, the location and the period in which its set. This album is definitely one of his great albums, comparable to the likes of Swades, Delhi and Rang de Basanti.
2013-06-03
6. God of Indian music! - Rahman is the God of Indian music! An ever glowing 'PURE Ganges' of Indian film music! He has done it yet again with "Raanjhanaa"! Amazing soundtrack... "Tum Tak", "Raanjhanaa Hua" and "Piya Milenge" are mighty brilliant numbers... The rest are also very good enough though these tracks are standouts! Rahman's best soundtrack in recent times. On par with the likes of 'Delhi ', 'Jodhaa Akbar' and 'Rang De Basanti' which are Rahman classics!

1. I Luv "I Hate Luv Storys" - Jab Mila Tu: / Arguably the best song on this soundtrack, it delivers the mood of the movie. With its wonderful lyrics and simple yet oh-so-addictive tune, it stands out and shines. A must buy! Bin Tere: / This song is so beautiful and melodic. It radiates grace and perfection. Sunidhi's singing is what tops it off. I Hate Luv Storys: / Gone are the days when the title track of a movie is the most stellar one. This song is tolerable; the slightly catchy tune makes up for the horrible lyrics and singing (come on, Vishal Dadlani!). Bahara: / And then comes another hit. Shreya Ghoshal sounds better than perfect and very at home in this adorable melodic tune. Sadka Hua: / Another beautiful hit. The tempo is slow and beautiful while the melody is wonderful. The only setback is the shift between the male and female parts; while they're beautiful, the different tunes don't fit together too well. Bin Tere/Bin Tere (Reprise): / While these are good, what is the need for these songs? And Bin Tere isn't really the type of track that needs a remix. Bahara (Chill Version): / Still beautiful, but not as good as the original. Granted, RFK's vocals rival Shreya's, but he beat isn't as wonderful. Overall, IHLS is a beautiful soundtrack filled with truly wonderful music.

2. Two great songs - - "Bahara" is amazing - Shreya deserves an award for most of her songs, but this one especially! "Sadka Kiya" is so beautiful - I love the romantic lyrics and the combination of Suraj Jagan and Mahalaxmi. Both of these songs have good videos that are sort of a facetious take on various Bollywood romantic films. The "I Hate Luv Storys" title song is fun for a bit, but Imran needs to work on his dancing (and chest-bearing) skills here. The other songs seem like a re-hash of the Dostana soundtrack, so they didn't really impress me.

3. I kind of love luv storys - ) Jab Mila - / - Thats why it is the first on the album. It is the most amazing number on the album. It sounds refreshing and youthful. )Bin Tere - ./ - Shafqat sounds a little bored on this track, if you want Shafqats version go for the remix. If not listen to the Shekhar Bin Tere track later on this album has more power and it is more well put together. )I Hate Luv Storys - / - This song was fantastic in the movie. It was more fast paced and had more base. Beware, this is not the same song from the movie, it is a toned down slower version that just doesn't match up to the track in the movie. )Bahara - / - Shreya pulls this off well. It turns out to be a sweet romantic girly love song that some listeners may just find perfect. )Sadka Hua - ./ - This singer is actually really good. This song has power and has so much emotional power.

1. Best Bollywood - I don't know why, but this is the only Bollywood movie I like. All others I found had an oddly high percentage of non-Indian looking Indians, and pop/Hollywood content. I like this movie/soundtrack because it's awesome to jam to, yet embodies the traditional sound of Indian music/dance/tradition.

1. Can't pronounce it, but I love it! - Saawariya is one of my favorite movies of all time and I'm so glad I finally got the soundtrack! I love Bollywood music, but this movie/soundtrack is absolutely amazing! My son and I try to sing along but alas we can't pronounce most of the words - so we just make them up.

2. Beautiful - This is one of my all-time favorite albums. "Saawariya" was the movie that introduced me to Bollywood films, and now I'm hooked, but this film stands head and shoulders above the rest. I have a little bit of a crush on Ranbir Kapoor now, and the song "Yoon Shabanami" sends a shiver up my spine every time I hear it! Fabulous. :)

3. Ohhh Saawariya - Saawariya is my all time favorite movie, and the soundtrack is also one of my favorites. My personal favorite song from the soundtrack is "Pari" because it conveys so much moving emotion, but who can deny that "Saawariya" is one of the only songs that pulls of yodeling? Who can resist the Saawariya-whistle at the beginning of the tracks as well? Lovely melodies.
