I bloody told you so! - Na een afschuwelijke (en dure) periode van introductie van een DOS-computernetwerk in het Engelse bedrijf waarvoor ik werkte in , heb ik gezworen om privé nooit zo'n kreng aan te schaffen. Een jaartje later, in een vergelijkbare functie in Praag, moest ik voor mijn kinderen die op de American School les kregen een Macje aanschaffen voor schoolgebruik. Ik ben toen nee gillend door de directeur aan mijn haren door de kleuterklassen gesleurd om te tonen hoe eenvoudig het gebruik was en, vooral, het plezier dat deze kinderen hadden ermee te werken. Ik heb toen ook voor eigen gebruik een Mac aangeschaft wat geresulteerd heeft in twee dochters die grafisch ontwerp als een carrière gekozen hebben. Zelf heb ik samen met een gelijkgezinde zakenpartner jaar een goedlopend eigen grafisch bedrijf bezeten. Met wel Macs! Nouws herinnert mij met zijn boek haarscherp aan het verloop van de geschiedenis rond de Mac, de frustraties en de vreugden, de beursbezoeken, de tripjes om spulletjes te vinden, onze eigen illegale handeltjes in gelogode tee-shirts en de moeizame discussies met "domme oogklap-Windozers".
