1. As good as a history podcast can get! - By far the most interesting podcast ever. Anita, William and their amazing guests take you through a journey and you seem to see through their eyes. Master storey telling matched by some of the best people out there.. you know when you hear them :). So lucky to have access to this podcast thank you!
2023-03-26
2. Absolutely amazing Podcast on the British Empire - This is a must listen for anyone interested in History and Politics of the Indian subcontinet. The insights that William and Anita have based on impeccable research and close interactions with people who know the subject well is something not to be missed. This podcast will definitely help many people re-caliberate their existing perceptions of the British Raj and some of the people involved in the politics of the Indian freedom movement.
Further on the podcast is also plans some other interesting Empires like the Ottoman Empire. It’s one of the best podcasts, I’ve heard in a while!

3. Learn - There are stories that you don’t know and there are stories that were told to you in a different tone. After all, history is written by the winners but updated by the sufferers after the winner is gone. This podcast bridges that gap to help understand what might have really happened. Highly recommended if you are interested in knowing what happened in those decades.

1. Amazing story teller - I have always been interested in history , especially Indian history! Reading is sometimes boring , hence I decided to hear the podcasts and I chose this one. I am absolutely surprised on how knowledgeable he is is and the way he tells stories of history , it’s very engaging and entertaining! I am so inspired and impressed by him. Thanks much and keep going!
2021-09-02
2. Outstanding Podcast - I stumbled upon this podcast by chance and got hooked on to it immediately. I respect and love that the narrator tells us how dependable/ credible the source is for each of the pieces of information he gives. You know right away that he’s trying to be as unbiased and as true to the story as is possible. He tries his best to get the pronunciations right but sometimes fails. That is understandable considering he is not an Indian by birth. But if you can get beyond this minor aberration, you’ll find yourself on a great historical journey through these podcasts. Highly recommended.
2021-08-27
3. Paints a visual image - This podcast is so beautifully structured that one can actually create a visual map of the geography and the events of that time. I got hooked onto this podcast in the very first minute of the first episode. There are a lot of people pointing out the pronunciation for the Hindi/Sanskrit words; the pronunciation rather makes me research and in turn, retain the information from the podcast. It was hilarious how the narrator called प ण न ‘Panini’. With just a little effort in googling the keywords, you have at your behest the greatest stories of Ancient India. I highly recommend this podcast; such an amazing team behind this.
2020-09-22
4. The stories are all that matter. - This is what could be called the labor of love. It is one and it feels like one. Keep up the good work. As for the pronunciation part, it is pathetic at places, especially when the word in question acquires a different avatar of its own. But the story makes it all worth it!!
2020-06-04
5. History brought to life - This podcast made me truly enjoy ancient history, a subject I had always considered to be dead and obsolete. The narration is brilliant and the content extremely relevant. It gives you the experience of journeying through the past and brings ancient India to life, replete with its passionate people and rich culture! Kudos to the tabla maestro. Those musical interludes are surreal!
2019-08-13
6. Extremely well researched with a balanced presentation. - I’ve been following this podcast for a while now and use it for my ancient history preparation for the civil service examination. The choice of using Pataliputra as an anchor for the narrative is brilliant and makes it easy to locate oneself in the history of a vast and ancient civilisation. Many thanks!
2018-03-15
7. Its great! - I like this podcast. The narrator has great enthusiasm. Also @people getting worked up over accents and pronounciations: one should overlook such trivialities because us Indians also make mistakes about other Indian cultures. Also in history all that matters is the central idea. Hence I like this podcast!
2018-03-01
8. Fun and informative - Yes the narrator has a British accent that takes some getting used to, but once you get past that, he's a great storyteller and throws in lots of colourful tidbits that makes the history come alive. This is the narrator's own initiative out of a clear love of Indian history, so Indian reviewers should stop complaining about the accent.

In "Hardcore History" journalist and broadcaster Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", unorthodox way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This isn't academic history (and Carlin isn't a historian) but the podcast's unique blend of high drama, masterful narration and Twilight Zone-style twists has entertained millions of l...

1. Well researched history with phenomenal presentation - This podcast on dictators across the globe has the best production value among all the history podcasts out there. The history itself is accurate, well researched and the writing is exceptional. It takes a humane, victim-centric approach to actions and consequences of some of the most deplorable specimens of humanity. Mr. Mcgann’s somber narration brings it all together and his performance is up there with leading narrators such as Attenborough, Morgan freeman and Werner Herzog. Looking forward to more episodes.
2022-05-02
2. Propaganda - Podcasts are well researched and narrated. These podcasts couldn’t hide the real agenda of calling national heroes of different countries as dictators and malign their image. The real challenge in today’s era is how to identify the hidden propaganda from different narratives. The biggest task is to research and expose the real villains of nineteenth, eighteenth, and previous centuries like the colonisers, invaders and missionaries who managed to grab lands, grab wealth, enslaved men, raped women, killed millions, converted to prophetic religions and started conflicts which will be continued to next centuries. This podcast may not be able to fulfill these expectations.
2021-10-09
3. Very interesting - I’m a student, and this is very informative.
What my teachers never taught to us at school, I’ve learnt and gotten informed by this podcast. Really informative. We must realize that the people who we are calling monsters, were actually the artists of gigantic powers. Thank you so much, for this podcast.

1. A history podcast of India worth listening to - I have just listened to one episode the Beloved of Gods Ashoka Maurya. What stays with me is a new perspective of looking at the historical data with scepticism and coming up with a plausible narrative. The listener is open to form their own conclusions. This episode has definitely kindled my interest in knowing more about the period referred to.
2022-08-20
2. Realistic depiction - Worth listening to. This narrative of Ashoka, the mighty, benevolent and able administrator of a unified subcontinent, makes a lot of sense. Because it explains how he used religion to both unify and exclude, while crafting a legacy through edicts, that befits the wiliest of politicians. And ‘benevolence’ in Ashoka’s time must have had a very different connotation to how it is understood in our times.
2022-02-21
3. A pleasure to listen to - I am not history nerd. I was just looking for interesting resources to know about Indian history. And I happen to bump into this podcast and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I specifically liked the subtle injection of humour making it so natural to listen to. The audio production is also very nice. I am hoping it become little more dramatic in season . I am definitely gonna listen to season . Eagerly waiting for it.

1. This podcast changed my many perceptions-Brilliant - When I started listening to The Bomb, I was struggling to understand due to very fast speaking speed. To overcome my limitations I started listening to each podcast twice. Thankfully I got the rhythm of the podcaster and started enjoying it, but till date I listen every episode twice for different reason. First I listen to it to go through the story and then I listen it again to make notes. It is an amazing work of research and what a beautiful narration of both the podcasters. The facts presented has changed my perception degrees. The world of deceit, the role of scientists and politicians, the games played by powers, the characters who give everything of theirs to their beliefs and the innocent people who face the brunt for no reasons. The entire story so far is unfolding exactly like it’s central theme, full of suspense. Thanks very much for such engaging work. Also a request- can this be published as a book? Regards,
Piyush Srivastava ( New Delhi - India)
